Demeo
Q; Has anyone been able to actually complete a quest?
I get crushed and swarmed by all the enemies almost immediately on seeing one. No matter how many or few players or characters are in the encounters.

When we first acquired the game, we lost 3 in a row. Since we've learned the game and the overall strategy, we rarely lose on the Elven Queen(Ch1). Rat King (Ch2) still stinks. Roots of Evil (Ch3) is about 70% success.
At this point, our group is working with the House Rules Modders (swell folks) to make the variants interesting. We've beaten all the std mods (including Legendary).
My point, it is possible to win.
Use your strengths, avoid splitting up (except the assassin, of course), and use your repeating cards every turn.
Swords Up!!

This has been a polarizing issue since day one.
Some people find the game frustrating and borderline unplayable (fun wise, not bug wise), while others think it's to easy.

Personally, my party agrees with you. Last time we played, the second room we entered pretty much chain agroed the entire floor. By the time we died there were about 15 active mobs, and those were just the ones we didn't kill!

I've suggested they add options to adjust the difficulty, but it never seems to get any traction.

The ability to turn off mob respawns
A setting that adjusts how easy new mobs agro.
Monster density as well as overall difficulty.

Bear in mind these settings could be used both ways.
Increase mob respawns
set it so that one small mistake will bring the entire level down on you.
etc.

In short, it would be a win / win as you could adjust the options to suit your personal play-style and skill level.

Bargain met bargain sealed.
Please look up the Demeo Mod House Rules.
Your every request has been met. Wait, except increasing the mob size. He's still working on that one.
I have played every variation he has created and critiqued a few and made some of my own.
Replay of Demeo is now increased dramatically.
The discord channel has a lot of chatter on how to use the mod to make your own dreams come to life.
It's a must have for any PC Demeo player.

I wasn't even aware there were mods for this game. Good to know.
However something like this would be a huge benefit to the base game without having to fiddle with mods.

My group is around 50% win rate. That being said, the boss levels in chapter 2 and 3, you almost need to cheat the game to win (as in use strategies that your friends would disrespect you for playing a board game). An example of this would be: we once used a barricade and a stealthed assassin to trap the rat king in a hallway. Assassin would come out of stealth, die, get rezzed, go back into stealth and pass his turn. Crappy way to win but they really stack the game against you so much that a stand up fight will have you lose every time.
i give up on this game as long the difficulty will not be changed, every bosses rooms are pure non sense , even darksouls naked is more easy, and i'm a veteran of D&D but this is just a get rekt game

Another shout out for Demeo Mod House Rules. It's a game changer. For me it was the constant spawning of enemies, I found it frustrating and it put me off the game. Being able to switch that off is brilliant.
yeah it kills the fun when there is monsters again and again
like the bosses room is filled with 40 ennemies for real , i didn't believed myself

"No Surprises" makes the RatKing actually fun.
