I don't know... just bought the game and it gave me a runtime error ( win 10 of course)
so i have to try to fix that problem first , then i can run the game and see if audio is available
Anyway i never had problems with their games under win 7 64 bits .
EDIT: it doesn't even start up now .... will try win 7 .... (maybe its a win 10 issue ( again)
Update: win 7 64 bits gave same problem .... so i guess the error is with the game , i have all other lost land games and they run without problems.
Previous games use faseEngine.dll but this game uses : fbnEngine.dll
i doubt the files were only renamed by the developers cause with this game i get a vcrun error on both win7 64 bit and win 10 64 bit.
So far no one else posted the same problems, i assume this ""error"won't be fixed soon.
Too bad, allways bought the games at release, after playing the demo...
Anyway i hope they will fix it, but ......
8 months ?
that's a lot..............
anyway, if they don't ... its okay with me ... saves me some Euro's
at least you can play it , be it without sound , but think of it as the first b/w movies that had no sound
It looks like they changed the ""engine"" the file has a different name ,the dll with all other games look the same, so maybe they changed the code , if that was the case it was a very bad move: never change a running system
Anyway still no reply . from any dev , not even a update
This is really more than a pity and also annoying, because it makes no sense at all to play the game without music and without voice output. All other parts of this series have always worked without problems, just not this one. :(
I really hope that Five-BN reads the entries here at some point and fixes the problem, otherwise the only option is a product refund if the developers / publisher don't care.
It is sad they don't reply and /or do not fix it
i always bought their games at release but........... no more until they fix the problem : the game nags about a vc something dll , says it needs to be installed/ reinstalled: i did just that but nothing
ah well ... no more games until they fix things.... some files look different , maybe they changed the ""engine"" cause the old games work a charm...
Anyway, don't fix or change that aint broken... the old ""engine"" worked.... and their latest games fails .... to run.
It would be nice if i can play their latest game i bought at release awhile ago, plus i would be able to buy more Lost land games
Well, i downloaded the game again ... hoping that the game would be fixed by the developers, steam kept ""telling"the game needed an update ... ( it did 4 times last week and nothing changed).
I downloaded it again this week and ... "knock on wood "" the game runs :D
the nagging text that it needed a weird dll to be installed was also gone, and i hear sounds when i click on the menu
Maybe the game will run, don't know for how long it will....
Maybe most of the error can be blamed on win 10, starting with win 95 all the way to win 10 ( skipping the usual bad windows:
windows ME, windows Vista ( this one always made me think of VISA and hasta la vista, baby ..)
Game runs, has music / audio/ sound effects. everything works
don''t know about "lag"" or ""latency"" or whatever they call it.
Sometimes certain programs take full control of the audio , meaning one sound at a time, with xp and win 7 we could run a game, a you tube video and even winamp playing sounds.... all played ""chaotically"" at the same time.
Usually games mute the audio/music when send to the background, maybe that is default windows behavior, or maybe programmed to do so by the game.
If you have a Realtek audio(deems onboard audio uses it) , you usually have a "mixer"" this option can allow you ( software/game) permitting to play different sounds at the same time .
Anyway, things can be very simple with windows or get very complicated.
Thank you for your help; I appreciate it. I've had to use the mixer for Red Dead Redemption. I did un-install the game will try it again.,,,Thanks again
your welcome ....
(ps: i had same problem on win 10, win xp and 7 had no problems, seems win 10 messed up , probably after one of its too many updates, that is why win 10 is so bad...
and we cant hide or block or skip updates like on xp and 7, M$ is now in control ... not us the user
ow... almost forgot: win 10 restore points dont work as well as under xp and 7 ...
i have w10 pro but win 10 is still awfull ...........
I'm using 8.1...
Unfortunately, there is still no improvement in sight for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times since the last post, including today, but still no sound.
And unfortunately I haven't received an answer to my request to Five-BN yet. I don't know if there will be an answer at all.
