Question for other 99%ers

I am trying to figure out the most optimal way keep building gold flasks trying to build up enough energy to unlocking black ice flasks. I have just been leaving the game on in the background with auto prestige on, this seems significantly better than letting it just idle without auto prestige.

honestly, i got the opposite feeling. Since your gold flasks keep on increasing due to the fire flask unlock, where you get 10% of what you would get any second anyway; and while you may not get the fuel flasks, you also do not get reset back a few steps every 5 seconds...
But I havent calculated anything, just speaking from my experience (especially when i tried unlocking the ICE AGE) I am not an AI with the computing power necessary to figure this out.

But getting capped in the first place seems to be a half desperate, half testing way of getting more playtime for the steam statistics; or even worse: a way to have people pay for the diamond flasks.

I understand that you get the 10%/s on top of that there would be the compounding of 100%/5 seconds. I have been trying to notice the incremental speed increases of the golden flasks. I have been doing some testing but still don't have a conclusive answer.

I don't think it matters once you reach the current ice gain hard cap of 10e99 ice flasks per freeze mode exit. And there seems to be no freeze mode exit automation.

not for building ice flasks but increasing the gold flask rate

I checked both. autoprestige is about twice as fast as just running. I get around 10% of the current flasks every 5 seconds on top of the ticking fire flask boost. since i grow my balance of golden flasks faster the fire flask boost tick returns more.
