In a nutshell this is what a trojan/malware is and being that this is not a massive triple A game many antivirus programs and even windows itself would have no idea what it is.
P.S. Technically as an example newer version of windows have verified "safe" malware ( in its most basic definition ) with things from Microsoft's like Bing Search Assistant.
P.P.S Also if you use an actually good antivirus suite you should be able to see incoming/outgoing network usage for each program on your PC and be able to dictate what that program has permission to alter.
