Space Station 14 Playtest

Space Station 14 Playtest

Found a Trojan in the launcher.
As usual, in the morning I launched SS14 and the Avast antivirus began to swear, knowing that it could throw an error, I went to virustotal, but there was also a surprise there. Should I be worried?

In a nutshell this is what a trojan/malware is and being that this is not a massive triple A game many antivirus programs and even windows itself would have no idea what it is.

P.S. Technically as an example newer version of windows have verified "safe" malware ( in its most basic definition ) with things from Microsoft's like Bing Search Assistant.

P.P.S Also if you use an actually good antivirus suite you should be able to see incoming/outgoing network usage for each program on your PC and be able to dictate what that program has permission to alter.

Nah if the SS14 launcher is open, some games won't even work. So there is probably not that much to worry about.

if you feel that there is something suspicious about the game, you can always check the files here: https://github.com/space-wizards/space-station-14 (note: it is possible that the files are different on steam then on the github, not quite sure how their update process works)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks everyone for the responses! As Rigben and MozarteanChaos explained, this could still be a false positive due to the SS14 launcher.
