This looks like a cross between GTA Chinatown Wars and a Bullet Heaven.

I have fond memories of Chinatown Wars on the DS (it was technically the first M-rated game I owned, via a flashcart), and I love bullet heaven games. Is that an accurate description, and is the game any good?

That is a pretty accurate description, though Maniac has no missions or story to speak of. The game is fantastic. The upgrades make an impact (I’m pumping my money into the meta shotgun upgrades, and cop cars explode into balls of fire in just a couple shots - it’s so great), the driving and gunplay feel like they should, and I have no doubt the other characters are just as fun as drunk Santa.
