My Timothy is a bit of an amalgamation of influences... often in kung fu movies there is a British villiain, so hes kind of representing all of them. But the initial guy I was thinking of was the villain in tai chi boxer: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTGmybPND4d9rZwu-W004T-tJULVPhaGYa0IA&usqp=CAU . With the look of him, I thought it would be cool to dress him like Robert Downey juniors Sherlock Holmes: https://i0.wp.com/frametrek.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/sherlock-holmes-2009-2.jpg?fit=1517%2C1517&ssl=1 .
As for the gun, there are a few movies with the theme of western guns vs chinese martial arts, so it seemed like a fit. (Tai chi boxer as I mentioned, but was also thinking of Once Upon a time in china) Plus often people will bring up that indiana jones scene and say "just use a gun, easy". So I could say to those people: "you can!". - side note: I was expecting people to say that western fighting/boxing would beat all these kung fu masters, so the western characters can be there for people who want to play that role.
I called him My Timothy after the guy who wrote the bios for me, as a thank you.
So not a direct reference, an original character, but I think it still fits the theme. Some characters are more direct references than others.
BTW I love Tai Chi Master, one of my favourites. The scene in that where chien bo was fighting soldiers on a red platform to prove he was toughest was why I did the red platform at the imperial palace
