Same feelings here.
That said, I wanted to offer some thoughts as someone who’s spent a lot of time in Gladius and was excited to dive into Zephon. Mechanically, I can feel the Gladius DNA — the city-building, the unit roles, the tactical depth — it’s all there. But visually and atmospherically, Zephon feels… softer? Less distinct?
Gladius had this striking, gritty clarity — the UI, the map, the factions — everything popped. Cities looked fortified, units felt imposing, and the terrain had immediate strategic readability. Zephon, by comparison, leans into a more subdued, almost minimalist style — which fits the post-apocalyptic tone, sure — but sometimes ends up looking a bit too muted or generic, almost like it lacks that "weight" or presence Gladius had.
Maybe it’s the fog blending too much with terrain, or the UI feeling more like a clean sci-fi dashboard rather than a brutal survival interface — but it creates a vibe that doesn’t quite land with the same impact.
I say this with a lot of respect — Zephon is good, and I’m definitely sticking with it. But if there’s room for visual UI options, faction-themed overlays, or even increased contrast settings in the future, I think that could go a long way in giving the game the same visual punch Gladius fans were drawn to.
Looking forward to the DLC — love the leader/quest mix, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Thanks again to the devs for keeping us in the loop.
An interesting marketing strategy.
Like their development strategy......gladius a successful title, let's CHANGE IT
Shake up what can happen in the end game a bit.
Add the possibility to play Anchorite, Chieftess and Zephon.
Add more late game units to each of those three.
Another Cyber leader would be cool.
Search tool for Research meny.
Online match-making server would be cool.
In Gladius, there are many factions and units:
Escalation pack, firepower pack etc.
Some of this would be great additions to Zephon for more unit variety.
I love the game but it also becomes an obvious road to getting the 1-2 late game units every time. Though this game has way more depth to that than most, because of the different resources that promotes using a variety of units. GREAT!
