this has a lot more variety.
no one says you have to use it all.
use what you want.
i prefer it this way.
BE had like 40 player units. Let's take a look at Zephon's unit count and... uh oh.
Anyway the direct comparison isn't really the point. The problem with both is the shared unit pool mechanics being more wishy washy than more rigid unique factions. It's detrimental to the narrative of each playthrough even if you play as a "disciplined" supporter of a single faction.
good god. have some self control and maybe don't use that word to insult people. irony.
you want to be limited to a few units, fine, but having the option to hire them is fine as it is. i use the human type units exclusively, and the ai use their chosen faction's units just fine. i have the option to get a few other units if needed.
what is so bad about that?
Every faction becomes the same except for very small almost insignificant changes.
The AI barely seems to use this system so effectively you have 3 factions to fight but vs players you can be sure you will be seeing the same few units.
This.
If every leader had a small set of unique units on top of everything else, then it would've been much better.
Hoping DLCs will fix this.
