Some Design Critique
I'm still playing and streaming the game, and gotta say, it's GORGEOUS. I adore the pixel art done for it, and it's certainly the highlight.

That said, some of the control schemes kinda irk me a little bit. Mostly the dodge mechanic (when I even remember to use it) and how clunky combat can kinda be. For instance: To dodge, you need to (on a controller) hold RT, then press B or B + a Direction. That's THREE button presses. It feels clunky, and half the time I just never used it even after remembering because I end up getting hit anyway.

IMO the dodge should just be a single button press WITHOUT having to be in combat mode (Because having to go into combat mode when running around, and effectively stopping/slowing your character, is kind of a death sentence sometimes). I can't see what else the dodge button is used for on the controller when outside of Combat mode in-game.

Also, maybe I'd be more forgiving if the dodge didn't have such a long delay after using a fired weapon. The delay is less with a knife (but it's still there).

I'll admit, maybe I'm just trash at how the game should be played, but I think the combat is the only clunky thing about the whole experience. The rest is great!

LOL Honestly, I find it more fluid to run, but then you have to swap to conbat mode and the abrupt speed change xan F you up

Dodge is extremely helpful for escaping maneuvers if you intended to do multiple runs after familiarizing yourself with the game.
Couple of noteable examples are outrunning chasing mandrakes or juking charging maids.
It's also great for just moving around fast in general.

Playing on KBM I had no issues with it, but I can visualize how awkward it is with a gamepad.
At there very least IMO there should be a keybind just for dodging as suggested here, which shouldn't be difficult to implement, given how there are 2 unused button at the mapping.

I absolutely agree with you on all accounts. I've made a thread on Twitter on Day 1. And I'm a bit disappointed that the devs didn't give it the time of day, instead only responding to purely positive feedback / hype posts 😐

*Looks at series of patches dealing with issues being pointed out, looks at post where dev responded to and fixed a problem a player was having*

What are you even on about?

Do you have reading comprehension issues? I've specifically mentioned Twitter, smart ass.
