Target Time?

Just started the game but I’ve already missed my target time on a couple missions, and on one of them I missed very badly. Is there a penalty for this, or a reward for hitting it?

Nah, I miss all my target times and I dont see any penaties. Just do the best you can and finish the job. Ive missed almost every target time and Ive cut down many small plants and flowers, and I am still making loads of money. I keep hoping this game gets harder or more involved with more and different equipment...but...I think the devs abandoned this game. There have been no updates or comments from any devs at least since I started playing and thats been quite a while now.

You do get a bonus for finishing under the time, but it's nothing major. By the time you can buy a mower that does it faster, the bonus is really inconsequential because you're making a bundle.

The Knight OFT is probably the best mower, IMO. It can do pretty much every job under the target time. It's a beast, especially on the bigger maps like the Ancient Britain and Landmarks DLC, and the vanilla riding academy sections, orchards, castle (especially the Parade Grounds), and the Park. You have to be more careful in the smaller yards with lots of gardens, though, because it's take down a hedgerow and flower beds in a blink.

The striping jobs are where you have to have a strategy. You can mow and stripe at the same time, but the clock stops when you're done cutting, so cut first, then take your time striping. Short grass is also easier to stripe, because the guides aren't overlapping like they do with tall grass, so it's easier to see the line. Driving backwards on those is also more precise, because you can see the striping effect as it happens, rather than afterwards.
