Stuck in Tutorial - Engine and Blades button are the same, cannot enable Blades because Engine shuts off

Title really, tutorial asks me to enable the cutting blades, but it's the same button as the engine, so when I press it, the engine shuts off. Impossible to progress because of this

Thanks! Didn't expect that to be the answer, I'm not really smart so I hoped the tutorial tells you that the throttle must be up to move...

Can you be more specific? My throttle is at max and blades will not engage. Pressing, tapping, or holding Z does nothing.

Is the blade thingy lowered? the blades can only turn on when the blade holder thing is lowered with Q

I just started a new game for the first time, followed tutorial and in the test drive i've started the motor, driven off the trailer, lowered the deck, moved to the grass, but I cannot engage the blades with Z (or any other key I map it to). Am I doing something wrong? EDIT: throttling down, turning off the mower, then back on and throttled up, it then worked. Not sure what was different the 2nd time, maybe tutorial wonkiness.
