I have tried probably 20+ times already. I got him down to less than a quarter, once, but overall WAAAAAAAY too hard. It's really ruining the game for me.

So, Talos is hard, that's intentional, but it is beatable, if you can, jump over to our Discord server[discord.com], a few people have been discussing him over there.

If you can't, then let me know what army units you use, how far they are upgraded, and also, what upgrade path you used, I'll see if I can help with some tips.

I'm not on Discord, but I have been at this for 17 hours (almost straight). He is borderline impossible. Making a boss this hard was a REALLY bad decision. Completely destroys the flow of the game. The difficulty spike on him in ridiculous. I have tried every combination of unit/ army possible (there really aren't that many options) and I have completed every stage up until him perfectly, (except 2) . The couple that I didn't get perfect have nothing useful anyways. I can consistently get him down to less than a quarter and then it is impossible to do any more damage as everything is basically destroyed and you have to either block enemies or aim for him, but you can't do both. :(

my issue isn't that he's hard, its just that its a TD game with a lot of RNG involved... you can't really bait the boss abilities and they just destroy your base since they have a lot of hp and a ton of mobs come during the fight that tank the dmg, not to mention he locks you in place during the last phase and it just screws u up. Stamina issues during boss long boss fights are another issue as well... like i said i got him to like 2%, but then sometimes i die at like 20-30%...

took him out on hard with tier 4 horsemen 2 each lane. tier 3 healers. tier 2 or3 phalanx and tier 2 or 3 archers. almost full leadership build.

get the perk that gives your units more damage the less health the gate have. let in alot of units before the boss so that your units deal more damage when they fight the boss. build up 1 lane at a time so your units dont die. and let the hero deal with as many units as possible.

i found tier 4 horsemen to be legit good. super tanky and runs around in the lanes dealing alot of damage to everything including bosses.

Was able to beat him on my 5th try. I switched to a build with 5 str, 9 agi, and 7 stam focusing on crit. Using phalanx/archers/musicians. I noticed that the vigor spear ability doesn't work on him so had to switch lanes to hit other enemies for that. I was getting him to 25% consistently until I decided to drop a unit and get lvl 4 archers. The wolves do a lot of dmg to him when he jumps on your units.

Using the wolves for the jump was smart, didn't think of that at the time (i'm alrdy past him, but he was a huge annoyance and just random when and where he jumps with his aura and burns half your base)

Well, I finally beat him, (by putting the difficulty on the lowest setting), and it took a ridiculous amount of time, (like 10 min) and now I'm facing Medusa. After trying a few attempts with her, I think my initial love of this game has totally tanked. The insane difficulty spikes of these bosses completely ruin this game for me. I don't want to play "Dark Souls, the puzzle game" and I have very little interest in the meta gaming aspect of this game; trying upteen builds until something works. Yawn. I want to play a tower defense game, NOT an army building stat simulator. So, after 20 hours, I'm done with it and am giving it a negative review for really bad design choices.

Talos was too easy in my opinion horsemen are just too strong, medusa is not hard at all just use a pack of red phalanx. On recommended difficulty game is too easy, no challenge at all.

Medusa is 10 times easier than Talos... this balance makes no sense
and developers should fix the challenges... i restarted the boss once cuz the shield on p3 is weird timing wise and before i restarted the gate went to less than 50% hp, when i restarted and won with 100% it didn't count.

It seems like the power difference between 3rd and 4th level horsemen is enormous. I stopped using horsemen because they seemed useless at lower levels, but at level 4 they are very, very strong.
kyuzou Feb 4, 2024 @ 12:43pm
yup, whoever is saying that the game is easy is abusing the fact that horsemen are just overpowered compared to the other units

Here is how I beat Talos, on Hard. It took a few tries until I get a better RNG with the spear trap which Talos throws at you and have a better understanding on the mechanics of the fight. You just have to hope and be in a good position when those traps come out, so when you are trapped you can still do damage to Talos. If you time it right, you can control where the traps land, so this fight is not totally RNG.
- Lv3 cavalry, bottom route with steed charge. 2 rows
- lv4 palisade, top route with drift wood and vine grasp. 2 rows
- lv3 archer, bottom route. 1 row
- lv3 musician, bottom route. 1 row underneath the archers
- Double Throw spear. You want a weapon which can focus the damage on a single target
- Minotaur's sword
- Light Shield. So you can attack faster
- 5 points in everything, 0 in endurance. Any extra points can be put in wherever is needed
- During the fight, summon more cavalry to clean up the trash and repair palisade. Do not waste any supply to replace the archer or musician. Help your troops to kill off high value and more dangerous targets and get back onto Talos

I finished the fight with the above setup and everything was in pretty good shape. Just saying that this fight is not totally RNG. I do agree with some of you who are saying that the difficulty curve need some works.

If you're having difficulties with bosses, try dumping most of your money into upgrading one type of unit and getting them to a higher tier. The tier buffs help big time. I use archers personally. It's also a case of using the right weapon, not just the right build of perks. A weapon with a good skill and good stats (skewed towards crit/attack speed especially) does wonders for taking down a boss.

This development team needs to listen to the crowd and lower the difficulty instead of sending people to discord and providing tips for pete's sake. I haven't purchased yet love the game had my finger on the purchase but the sliding reviews due to mainly difficulty is such a waste of the all important positive reviews and a shame. Super fun cool game with an easy fix we will see..
