Should've hired MMM to do this one.
This is too bad. I was super looking forward to a quality Commandos entry.

Mimimi is closed
In those moment they was the perfect company to create a new Commandos, but, they decided Desperados Franchise.

i dunno about "decided", maybe they wanted to make a commandos game, but they don't own the ip
Desperado 3 was great.
There are other good commandos-like games, which are not from Minimi.

Sadly not a single Kalypso's commandos-like game is on par with them.
I saw this release 2 days ago. Commandos behind enemy lines was my childhood game. I even told my big brother about it! But seeing these reviews is saddening.

One thing that struck me as somewhat annoying/odd and frankly alienating their main target market (retro PC gamers)
... (from a quick glance) is the original characters are SKINS? And you have to buy the deluxe edition? Seems the base game is still wildly overpriced to me for a start? If I'm not mistaken?

Sad to see. Very sad.

They were asked if they would if they had the opprotunity in an AMA and said "No"

Eh, it's fine, Desperados 3 and Shadow Tactics had performance issues at launch too. After playing for a while I think that the game is surprisingly good, they just have to iron out the jank (low animation framerates, settings that don't work as they should, physics bugs, somewhat iffy performance).

Other than that the devs seem to have taken Mimimi's games as a template and that works out well.

No they didn't. I ran them flawlessly. Games like these have a short life, if they don't come out swinging they fail.

Yeah a muckup like this can affect sales a lot so that's not great but oh well, I'm enjoying my time even with the jank. What matters to me is that the missions are well designed.

When it comes to how successful these games become frankly I couldn't care less ever since Mimimi closed up shop. Those guys have only put out bangers yet after Shadow Gambit they couldn't continue making games so I'm just happy that the genre still exists and that in general it's getting pretty high quality releases.

dunno game feels fine and feels quite like shadow tactics.. so doubt "mmm" would suddenly do some magic.. if they could they wouldn't be closed a while ago :wowsfishpalm:

Not exactly on the level of Mimimi, but Artificer did a great job with Sumerian Six. Check it out if you haven't so far.
