Odds of finding a mimic?

Almost cleared the game 10 times with no sign of a mimic appearing. Is there a specific way of finding one or is it just a random rare encounter through chests?

Not exactly sure what i did to trigger it, but i had 3 Mimics appear for me during my 11 hours of gameplay. Every time they appeared in a weapon-loot room and they didn't start appearing before i found my first secret room.
Maybe that's what triggers their spawning chance?

Well, i have been playing in easy mode too and still got them

I'm almost 40 hours into the game and they never appeared once for me even though I found lots of secret rooms

was the secret room the one with the dark souls reference (the one with the bonfire in the middle of the room)? I'm starting to think that you need to see that hidden room first in your run to get a mimic. But idk, in my 22 hours i haven't gotten any mimic yet despite getting that room multiple times ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I play on PS5, on high difficulty.
I can't find the mimic either. I haven't found a single one in 50 hours. The last boss was killed 20+ times. Discovered more than 100 secrets. All weapons and items are unlocked.
I probably saw all possible hidden rooms, and even with a fire from DarkSouls.
I was already thinking about starting to go through the second save slot.

48 hours into the game, wasn't running any fancy relics or special skills, just got a mimic spawning in biome 5.

Just a weapon chest, and I think I avoided going into any secret rooms in that run

Ok after i read sth i only spammed weapon rooms and yep after 2 runs mimic came to rescue. So if ya still need it just spam weapon rooms.

on what biome did you get it?

There's a difficulty option before the run to increase Mimic's appearance rate. Done the achivement first run after enabling it.

I got mythic on my like 7th run i'm lucky lol. I was on easy mode. Also I think only weapon chests can be mimic
