Windows 8.1 compatibility

The Unity game engine (which Puzzle together uses) no longer supports Windows 8.1. It now requires Windows 10 or 11.

To allow players with Windows 8.1 to continue playing, I've made it possible to download the last version of Puzzle Together that was compatible with 8.1. To do this, go to your Steam library, right click on Puzzle Together, and select "Properties" from the menu. Then select "Betas" from the choices on the left of the Properties window. From the "Beta Participation" menu, select "win81_compat". Steam should then download the previous version of Puzzle Together, which was compatible with Windows 8.1.

Note that this is the version before the November 2024 update, and will be missing some of the features in that update. It also will receive no further updates in the future.

In the long run I'd recommend updating to Windows 10 or 11, not only for future compatibility with Puzzle Together, but because Microsoft has stopped providing security updates for Windows 8.1 so it's more vulnerable to attacks.
