Performance issues after latest update
Gave it a spin just now to check if the unexpected "gift" attached to this update has any effect on the game, and boy howdy...

(Machine has not been updated in any manner since I last played the game, no drivers or software have been added or substantially modified)

- Loading is taking about 25% longer than it did a week ago on the same machine.
- When moving in the game, without changing any settings from the ones used last week, the game is now performing substantially worse, lagging ahead something insane. I have maxed out settings, so can probably drop them to regain some performance, but this ran perfectly fine, maybe a single drop when things got really heavy once an hour or so, now it's constantly going about it.

Spec
RTX 4090
i7 9700K
64GB RAM

I did not expect this game to get Denuvo, so didn't capture any footage a week ago, unfortunately. This would've been a prime example of how this junk degrades a product.

And after about an hour of gameplay the game straight up crashed to desktop.
Good job guys! you took a well made, quite fun game, and made it ♥♥♥♥. Give yourself a pat on the back.

only problem i noticed is that when you move every 5 meters i get microstutter (didn't happen pre-patch)

I thought it was just me when I noticed the main menu, not the game itself, was a little off. thought may be I misremembered the game after reinstalling it to check out the update. nope. the game noticeably runs worse. not enough to where it's technically unplayable, but just enough to notice and make the game not really worth playing in it's current state

after the update, 60 frame is so lag that unable to play, 30 frame lag every 30 sec and cut scene is lagging like hell,
and switch to the lowest performance( graphic sux like hell) still lag every minute

before update, can run at highest performance with no issue
lol

I'm afraid so ...

It ran GREAT on my pc (12900K+3090ti) but now it's just ... :steamsad:
Just panning around any maps causes microstutters.

If you want your customers to pirate your game so they can roll back forced updates, well played!
I bet they hate Denuvo as much as gamers so they put this "issue" in the spotlight ?
I don't see any other valid reason to push this crap so late after launch ...

Or maybe I'm just a bit :steamsalty: from not finding the big content update they advertised.

Valve refused my refund request, of course...
Sent them the Norwegian Consumer Council standard form for complaint, which I need to do before filing a formal complaint to them.

Boy is this ever a headache :steamfacepalm:

first time playing the game on pc (using gamepass for pc) and the game had many hitches and stutters throughout the game. i have a 5800x3d with a 7900xt and was getting 120 fps, but the gameplay did not feel smooth or consistent in the slightest. a real shame.

SteamDB shows some updates to some of the branches for the game including the "Protection" branch, so there is at least a chance this issue is being worked on: https://steamdb.info/app/1475810/depots/

We'll see... I don't really trust anyone involved, for all I know some intern just pushed a new compile by mistake. I'm not likely to trust anything these guys do until I see it and they don't magically make it worse a year or two down the line...

would be nice though... I mean, to use the game I paid for... novel idea

I tried every suggestion I could find and think of - disabling Windows Antivirus, Exploit Protection, global V-sync versus in-game, different FPS caps, but nothing eliminated the stutters.

Hopefully they will remove Denuvo after a few months since that is likely the cause. From what I understand companies must pay Denuvo each month or for each download, so I imagine they won't want to do that for too long.

Like others have mentioned, the framerate is fine, but visually there are microstutters.
If it's a yearly lump sum contract or a one time payment then they probably won't remove it(like Sonic Force) but I do hope it won't be that bad.

If anyone is still experiencing lag, I recommend posting the argument:
-dx11
In my case, I was able to go from 30FPS on medium to almost 100fps just by changing DirectX
