Black Screen after hitting new game
Hello all

I'm experiencing major problems with this game. Running it on a NVIDIA 3080, AMD 5800, Windows 11. I can launch the game, hit New Game and then the screen goes black. Nothing happens. I have to alt f4.

Checked what people were saying online and downloaded the VP9 Video Codec. Problem still persists. Tried to launch it on the DX11 mode. Problem still persists.

Any fix to this? :(

Thanks

Same here, tried downloading vp9 codecs, running as admin, downloading c++ runtimes, changing fullscreen <> Windowed, updating windows 11, making firewall exception for exe, updating graphics drivers, deleting save data, restarting pc, lowering resolution and graphic settings, unplugging controllers... everything but offering my soul to the dark lord himself. I'm gonna try that next ill let you know.

I tried everything, nothing works. I tried the game with game pass, it works perfectly...

I am having the same issue. 3080 with a i7-9700k. I shouldn't be having this kind of issue with this game... makes me sad.

I emailed Bethesda support about this issue. This is what fixed it for me.

Now it's only a matter of eliminating the driver or startup app on my primary account that is messing with this game. I have a feeling only Mighty Jehovah can do that. And He's rather occupied...
Not sure if this will even help, but the video and audio codecs are interestingly hard to setup. You can use K-Lite and see if this application will clean up any outdated codecs and update them or what not. I had good experiences with K-Lite and Ableton Live Video.

The cool thing is that it allows you to adjust the video and audio settings, codecs, etc... that would otherwise be impossible to do: https://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

I was also thinking maybe check for GPU updates and attempt SFC Scan. I do know Nvidia has a new update after that broken one early June which included a hot fix.

Same problem here...

Nope, installing K-Lite didn't fix it. I had also removed the Windows 11 "Movies & TV" app from my system, so on a lark, I reinstalled it and restored all default file type associations. Still didn't fix it. However, it works fine on an alternate user... Elohim be praised, what a mystery.

Could you explain the part of "eliminating the driver or startup app" which app or driver u mean? thank you very much.

No, I can't explain it. All I know is there's something about my main Windows account that is blocking this game. If I create a new account, with no Microsoft login, it works fine.

I followed Bethesda's instructions to reboot on my main account with as little extra apps as possible, but it still doesn't work. They told me to contact Microsoft. I'm stumped...

Matronix can i have your save file
Matronix Jul 8, 2023 @ 7:09am
Try this : https://kdrive.infomaniak.com/app/share/776999/a7fc62c0-fb03-46c8-991f-b84aa1a13b00

Into %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\TangoGameworks\GhostWire Tokyo (STEAM)\Saved\SaveGames

You will miss the video when the character died, and a "spirit" takes your body.

I hope there will have no bug, I didn't play yet, but the game works
