Ikumi Nakamura NOT credited enough!!?
As we know, the strongest factor that made any of us interested in Ghostwire Tokyo was the performance of Ikumi Nakamura at E3 2019 presenting it to us :p2cube:!! Then merely 3 months later it is announced she quit Tango Gameworks :steamsad:, with no proper justification; then only after about 1 year and a half Ikumi claimed it was due to something like "feeling ill" which I don't really buy it.
Anyway, the Point is, Ghostwire Tokyo is out and I got curious if Ikumi Nakamura would be credited at all, and to my surprise, she did! BUUUT, I do not think she was accurately credited for her contributions to the game; she (along with former and now present colleague at new studio UNSEEN) was merely credited as "Special Thanks". Sure, could be worse, but that's it?!? :steamfacepalm: No "original concept" (IKUMI conceived the project), no "original design", no "art direction", no "character/environmental design"?! I think Ikumi Nakamura deserved better than just "special thanks".
Regardless, I am still curious of how much of Ikumi's "DNA" is actually present in Ghostwire Tokyo... :handprintright:

This. It isn't right, but it's common in the industry.

My sense of it (though this is complete speculation obviously) is that when Ikumi blew up on social media, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for her. Suddenly there was a lot of public interest in her as a creator and a personality.

I don't think she quit Tango due to being sick or unsatisfied, but because there was a once in a lifetime moment for her to network and career grow at a level that most people never receive. I think she even suggested that Shinji Mikami had recommended to her that she take advantage of it.

So as you probably saw, she didn't work for a while and just traveled around visiting tons of famous game studios. Meeting and taking pictures with the giants of the industry at a time when people are excited about her and want to meet her as well. She built a lot of clout, and then she launched UNSEEN.

(Sidenote: As I recall, she also had a baby somewhere in the midst of all of this, so that might have affected her Tango decision as well. Possibly!)

I think that was the true reason she left Tango, but it might be impolitic or impolite for her to explicitly say so.

I don't actually know how long Ikumi worked on the project or what exactly her contributions were, but crediting in video games can be pretty terrible in general. I know even American studios have been criticized for failing to credit or splitting hairs about who gets credit for what.

I think Ikumi made a big enough name for herself, though, and there is enough public interest in her now, that the underwhelming credit will not hurt her too much.

Why credit her more than what she deserves ?

Always in Mikami directed games you could only see his name one time in the credits.

I mean none of them are like Kojima(That for some reason loves to put his name in gameplay design, level design, producer, editing and director roles)

Yep. There are "rules" for crediting and some of them, like this one, are bad.

I still think Ikumi left Tango for not agreeing on upper demands (mostly likely from Bethesda/Zenimax) to make the game more action and open-world, but it also seems she left Tango with good terms on the rest of the studio, including Shinji Mikami. I assume Ikumi didn't want to compromise on the creative vision she had conceived to hard to make happen (I wouldn't blame her at all)... but fortunately things are going better for her!

The premise and art direction are the only great things about the game, so absolutely!

Who are you talking about?

And why are you complaining about a game you don't even own?

Or is that why your entire post history is filled with rants like this on games you don't own?

Like was already asked: who?

Even with the video, she's a random nobody that the general public hadnt heard of before. Her being a part of it or not is meaningless. She wasn't a big name in the industry. Still isn't.
