Pre-rendered Cutscenes issue.
The cut scene video runs slow. The audio runs at normal speed and the cut scene ends when the audio ends, so I am a little confused on what is happening with the story. Anyone else run into this?

Right. Were you playing with the English dubbing, or the original Japanese, to confirm?
I'm also playing from a SSD and I am playing with the original Japanese audio. I'm experiencing desyncs in videos when playing in resolution 2K+ and I have all sorts of codecs installed.

Two weeks, no patch. This is frustrating and a refund is no longer an option.:MarkSkid:

Right, just making sure the Microsoft Web Media Extensions(.Ogg system support. Includes Theora, Vorbis, and maybe also Opus support.), WebM VP9 Extension, MPEG-2 Video Extension, and other Windows codec extensions that could be of note are installed.

What GPU do you have, by any chance?

I have a RTX 3090 OC, so I'd say I'm covered on that side.
I have also tried to install the VP9 codec extension, but it was already installed.
I don't know what else to try tbh. Contacting they're customer support has also proven to be useless, since they replied saying that I can't play the game with an integrated graphics card (which is frustrating AND funny, at the same time).

Seems the LibVPX codec library shipping with VLC Media Player and whatever else is relevant and included with it is enough for the game to use, and use well.

Not even the Windows extensions are correctly or at all leveraged well, leaving this as a main solution.

i have vlc but still same issue
GingyQueerBeard Apr 14, 2022 @ 7:02pm
VLC does not fix this, I tried installing both versions of VLC (regular and UWP) from the Microsoft Store.
Something interesting I found was that the audio syncs up if the frame rate is limited to 30 in the settings.
Obviously this isn't a great fix, as you can't change the FPS cap while in game, only in the title menu.
With the 30fps cap, it's definitely not as smooth as at 1080p or anything lower.
I hope this issue gets fixed ASAP, I have a 10th gen i9 with a RTX3080, this shouldn't be happening lol.
Really takes away from the atmosphere of the game having these cut-scenes ruined

I also tried enforcing Vsync from the Nvidia CP, with no luck.

Please fix!!!

Unreal Engine will not use external media player, but it can use libvpx codec.

LibVpx API Design is better than FFMPEG & Windows Media Foundation, LibVpx can work all system environments.

Good game programming should not depend on Windows Media Foundation to play pre-render animations.

Anyone had success with the VLC suggestion?
I've tried it but it didn't work. I already had the normal desktop version but uninstalled it, restarted computer, installed the windows store version, restarted, tried that, Did it for the UWP version in the Windows Store aswell but to no avail.

I really want to carry on playing it but the audio desync and choppy frames during cut scenes really put me off and broke immersion.

Might just carry on playing but try to get a youtube video that has all the cutscenes and watch them on the side when I get to them in the game? :|

EDIT: This is on a 3080/i9 10900k combo.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if UEFI firmware or BIOS corruption is partly to blame. See if reinstalling that helps, I guess.

have you ever imagined that maybe, just maybe the game is at cause here?
you are searching waaaaaay too far. bios, really? for a cut-scene audio desync?
Plus it would not be bios & uefi anything if more than one person is experiencing the problem.

never. fiddle. with. bios. people

on another note : i will NOT install any codec for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game that cost 60€
nor vlc, nor anything for that matter. this ought to be running perfectly OOB.

this is a joke.
insta-refunded.

What sucks is waiting for a patch because it's been more then two weeks since I bought it. I won't lie, this issue is aggravating. I haven't seen any news about an update besides hearsay about SteamDB. I really hope we get some solid info on a patch from the devs or publisher, because this game looks like a lot of fun (even if it isn't as scary as early media hinted). :Eye_tv:
