Shadowbane

Why?
Just modernize the damn game. Start from scratch and remake it. I know the game was in Limbo for years since Wolfpack Studios closed it's doors. If a serious argument can be made to revitalize the game. I'm sure a big developer would jump on it.

I'm sure no one's thought of that

It's happened many times, but never as good as this game was. I'm just sad it's over run with the chinese. Used to be SO GOOD

Maybe Crowfall will be what you're looking for. Haven't looked at it much myself but it seems like it a spiritual successor to SB. They even have disciplines it seems.

This is a fresh start what you're talking about takes time and alot of funds... and there's no sign anyone wants the game you're talking about. You're talking about 60 million to build a game possibly no one will play. I can reference crowfall the game looks terrible and I feel like they have wasted money creating it.

It would be much easier to work with what they have now. They could rework character models, surfaces, objects, armor, weapons slowly to match the times. They could work on a new and improved map that's double the size. Add new racial buildings that never made it into launch, add couple new classes, new zones.

No point in trying to reinvent the wheel just make it better. A start with be EN website www.shadowbane.com for english speaking playerbase and remove chat filter.

Apparently Crowfall is really un-optimized at the moment and is a slideshow during big battles.

I heard of it. Until it it's Actually released, I guess I'll just have to see. I know Crowfall has had Beta sign up for quite some time now. So I'm kind of skeptical if it will actually be a close enough representation of SB. But maybe! You never know.

My only issue with SB is the UI. It's one of the worst i've ever seen.
Mr Conspicuous Feb 9, 2021 @ 7:08pm
They can hire someone that specializes in UI's and give us a new one fitting for the current decade. WoW did some good work reworking outdated graphics and I believe DAOC did this as well and made the game at the time look great. Shadowbane already has the ground work it really don't need to be done from scratch just built up and made better to meet the times.

If you want to pay Crowfall Beta is going to cost you between 59 to 76 dollars to play a game that you are stuck with after buying it.

ArtCraft Entertainment announces Massively Multiplayer Game, “Crowfall” and reveals strong momentum of Play2Crush.com teaser site

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 6, 2015 — Independent game developer ArtCraft Entertainment, Inc. revealed today high level details about “Crowfall,” a next-generation Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG) with a focus on political alliances and feudal conquest.

“A few weeks ago, we put up a sign-up page for Crowfall at play2crush.com,” explained J. Todd Coleman, CEO and game director. “Play2Crush was a statement of purpose – more manifesto than teaser. Without providing a single screenshot or even naming the game, the site has already collected 10,000 registrations. We are blown away by the response. We clearly struck a nerve.”

The play2crush.com site has now been replaced with an official landing page for the game, which can be found at www.crowfall.com. Players are invited to visit www.crowfall.com to join the community, find information about the game, read and post to the development forums, and to sign up for future beta tests.

Gordon Walton, ArtCraft president and executive producer said, “Crowfall isn’t a game for everyone. It’s for players who are looking for a more immersive, more visceral experience. The early response was fantastic, but we still expect to build this community one player at a time.”

Coleman adds, “Between now and late February – when all of the details of the game will be revealed – we’re going to be playing a game called rampant speculation. We’ll be dropping hints, screenshots, images, videos, storylines…painting a picture in broad strokes. We’ll see how long it takes our fans to figure out what it means, and how it works.”

Founded by two of the most experienced executives in the history of online gaming, ArtCraft Entertainment is the combined effort of J. Todd Coleman (director, Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101) and Gordon Walton (executive producer, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: the Old Republic). The stated goal of ArtCraft Entertainment is to “push the design of Massively Multiplayer Online games in bold new directions.“

Yeah, after seeing the call to Play To Crush, I bought into Crowfall. I really was expecting Shadowbane 2.0 and threw my money at J. Todd Coleman. Not long after, Play To Crush got watered down and no idea what it is supposed to be today.

A modernized Shadowbane would have been more than sweet. I feel ripped off.

Dude, this game has been shut down bought and sold, emulated many times. There's nobody developing it to remake or modernize it. I'm thinking about making a new indie version with easy graphics etc... God knows we need it.

Free for all PvP market is rather niche though, and most of them are playing EvE online and nothing else (until something better comes around).

Crowfall is not like Shadowbane though as you can select where and how you want to play in Crowfall, like 3 realms against each others or faction against another faction or FFA. In Shadowbane it is entirely player-driven on ONE server.

The problem is no new game or old game has really been better or upgraded from what games were in the early 2000's. its 2021 and there has been no improvement really in mmo games. Character customization for example, is actually worse in games now than they were in earlier games. They give you ONE face..that you can change the skin color and MAYBE the eye color. Bodies all the same. They could at least make 3 diff body types. im so tired of the only choices for females is this ugly hippy big breasted character.. hidious hairstyles etc.
