Cannot get the game to launch

I bought the game today excited to get back into Shadowbane. However I cannot get hte game to launch. I even went as far as getting a fresh install of windows, fresh new drivers, etc and still cannot get the game to launch. I am new to Steam so this is the only game I have in my library because I only got steam going after a friend told me Shadowbane was back so I cannot confirm if it is a Steam issue or a Shadowbane issue.

Here is what is happening. I press the "play" button from the library. A small box opens for a quick moment and then closes almost as fast as it opened. Then I'm looking at the library page once more and the button says "stop". After about 10s the button changes to "Play" again. If i press the play button again the exact thing happens again.

Anyone have any ideas that might be able to point me in the right direction?

they should reboot the server everynight before they go to sleep the least they can do

you may need to validate the shadowbane files with steam then try again i had the same problem it said there was 4 files that needed to be validated

I understand the servers may be down right now, however that isn't the issue i'm dealing with currently. My friend can still get his client to start he just cannot enter game. I however cannot get my client to even open. I have tried validating the files with steam, i uninstalled and reinstalled, and i validated those files and still nothing.

Yep that's the fix. It worked for me and my friends!

Galion, the fix was getting the correct visuall c++ redistributable package. Unfortunately I don't remember which one it was. Hopefully someone else will read this comment and remember which one is necessary

I've downloaded them all, and directX, and windows updates. I cant get the game to run on this computer. Fresh win10 install.

hmm i sadly am not sure then. Maybe try making a new post and try and describe the error you are getting. Hopefully someone with better knowledge than myself kind find a solution for you like they were able to help me.

It was the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable Package. It seems like it's been removed from the MS site, so I'm not sure where one would get it now.
