Option to disable auto-assigning directions on storage
I was trying to see if something like that was already in the settings, but I couldn't find anything.
I'm quite enjoying the game, but the one thing that bugs me is the fact that storages keep resetting the direction settings whenever you hook up a machine or belt to it. If I place a storage next to a machine, then set the input/output and THEN add the belt afterwards, then it auto-sets the belt-related input/output (whether I did or not before), but it ALSO resets any other settings to None at the same time. Of course I can simply build the entire set-up first and then set all the input/outputs later, but I tend to do a mix. But all too often I wonder why a belt is empty and every single time it's because the directions on a storage has been reset despite of me already setting them previously.
Same thing happens if I decide to run a belt past a previously built storage, which means I have to be very careful about building in close proximity to an older set-up. Otherwise I have to recheck everything afterwards to make sure that I didn't accidentally change something.

I love how intuitive the game is, but this is the one thing that I don't like. Sometimes programs and in this case a game can be TOO helpful. So an option to disable said "help" would be nice. :D

Thank you for that feedback. So, if I understand you correctly, you'd like an option to NOT have containers autoconfigure their sides based on adjacent blocks? And that would then affect all containers placed from that point on.

Yup, exactly. :)

All right, that's definitely and easily doable. I'm going to add this in the first post-release update. I don't have an ETA on that yet, but soon (within a day or two). I'll reply in this thread when it's done 😊

Awesome!
Oh and sorry about posting it in the Bugs section. I'm used to the forums defaulting to General Discussion, so I only just noticed that I had posted it under Bugs. Oops!

No worries. And a good point, I'll move this forum down the list.

Thanks. I trust that you let me know if it doesn't solve the problem after all 😊
