Developing a game takes longer than you think.....
I have made a few very very small games and I understand they take a long time. Im just asking here if/how the project is coming on?
Maybe a small update to let people know you're okay and its slowly but surely going to happen? I have my fingers crossed!

You're absolutely right. I haven't posted any updates on Steam for ages. Part of the reason is the low to non-existing feedback I get from those updates. It's not encouraging to take time to compile dev updates when chances are no one will react to them.

However, I have been posting updates on Discord. Those are less effort and I do get a little feedback.

Anyway, as for an update:

Development has been on hiatus for a couple of months, as it has many times before during development (which began late summer 2020). Simply because I'm a solo dev doing this in my spare time. I have a mortgage and bills to pay, and that comes first.
But, when I pick it up again I think I'm looking at maybe one or two months of good progress before I can finally offer a demo/alpha/playtest build (whatever you want to call it), and that will be offered to Discord members first.

So to put your mind at ease; don't worry, this game is still going to release some day.
Thank you for asking, rather than just jump to the conclusion it's cancelled. I appreciate it
Appreciate you took the time to reply!
I suppose the thing about releasing updates and not getting feedback is that it needs a certain amount of momentum to generate more momentum for replies. Sometimes it can feel like youre talking to a wall.

As a solo dev, the main thing that i found to help me with getting this done, is that you enjoy the process of doing bits and bobs for it. A bit like learning and instrument i suppose. you have to love the process. Eg one time you might decide, i want to learn about this dev pattern, how can i add/learn that as part of this. Or i want to learn about AI path finding, how do I add that to this.

Having the release as a goal will somewhat push the focus onto that rather than the sitting down and just getting stuck in. But then maybe having that will help also? Everyone is different i suppose.

2 things if i were you and fed up with codng (if you don't mind the un solicited advice)
1: Maybe diving into the music score will help? Assuming youre trying that too? That also might help you segway back into doing some coding for the music

2: Look for interesting, semi popular youtubers who can you can market to on release and write some promo stuff? People who did lets plays on stuff like Shapes.io... get them in a document ready....

Anyway, Best of luck!

Yeah, so maybe you understood, but I'm not fed up with coding. I've been a programmer for more than 25 years, it's what I do and love. I know how to complete projects. I just happen to need breaks every now and then, for various reasons, one of them being that I have bills to pay. But the itch will return, it always does.

I can't make music. I have tried, and my brain is simply not wired that way. I either need to hire someone (which is painfully expensive) or settle with royalty free music. So, music is definitely one of those big ticket items that I have to get sorted somewhere between now and release. Good thing I haven't set a release date, lol
