Towns are empty, and when you finish everything you could possibly do in the game, it leaves you feeling like there should be more. As of right now, the devs won't be adding anything to the game anymore, and say they're fixing the bugs and after that, there won't be any more updates to the game, which is a bummer because it definitely feels like they had more planned.
As much as I, personally, love the game, there really isn't a lot to do in it. I suggest watching some gameplay of it, and then decide if you're interested in it. Good luck friend!
Yeah the game is terrible.
I am always, heck, I take some pride in being very forgiving in regard to game development and developers, but these folks have really shafted everyone who bought the game at full price.
$30 for this buggy, incomplete, glitchy mess? Get outta here.
Someone somewhere had a great idea for a game, and for a while it would seem there were a handful of capable, dedicated programmers working away to make a great little horse game. Then it was shoved into release LONG before it was ready and basically abandoned.
It's extremely disappointing and I can say with certainty I'll never buy another game from the team that 'made' this.
The only horse game I've been playing these past few years, (before Emerald Valley came out) has been Codemasters Bella Sara game for the DS, and yeah, it's just as bad as it sounds
But if any of you find a halfway decent horse game, HMU cus I'm desperate
While its not a real horse game, red dead redemption 2 has the most realistic aspect of horse riding mechanics in it. The story is really good too, but I know its not everyone's taste for games.
Hey, apologies for not seeing your question before now.
The absolute best horse game currently available to play on PC is Rival Stars Horse Racing. *Do not* confuse this game with the mobile version. The mobile version is very much built on the mobile/pay-to-win model and unless you have more self-control than a whole pack of aesthetic monks you'll end up spending way more money than is reasonable.
But Rival Stars Horse Racing, the PC version, is actually very good. It's not cheap, but it's very much worth it, imho. There is a story to play, which, conservatively, will take you 25 - 30 hours, maybe a lot more. It took me eons, but I have a bad habit of starting over every once in a while.
Rival Stars is centered around breeding and horse racing, but when you reach Prestige level 5 (by playing the story) you unlock cross country competitions, which are a ton of fun. There's even a global leader board for cross country -- although there seem to be some major issues with the time-keeping. There's also a free-roam mode, if that's more your jam.
The main thing that sets Rival Stars an entire class above everything else available are the horse models. They are, simply put, dang near perfect (except for one little thing: there are too many pink muzzles; once you see them, you can't unsee them). Nonetheless, they are the best horse models and animations you'll have seen to date (and yes, I've played a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2; their horses are very good, but can't compare to Rival Stars PC).
There is another horse game that I'm looking forward to, called Astride, which already has a store page here on Steam, but its release date is tbd. And there's still a demo available, I believe, for a game called Rivershine or Riverside Stables, something along those lines. The graphics for Rivershine are more similar to Emerald Valley than the realistic models in Rival Stars, but the demo was fun.
I hope this helps. And if anyone else has a horse game to throw out that is worth playing, I'd also love to hear about it. Cheers.
