Endgame activities?
I'm really interested into this game especially that it is tagged as an ARPG. Does anyone know anything about how the endgame will look like? The endgame is a really important aspect of ARPG's for long time replayability.

Hi, thanks for the great question! Right now I have a handful of systems in place to support replayability, a few of which are in the demo in a limited form:
  • filling out the metagame Reality Stream (like prestige talents in incremental games, these change the game a lot and unlock big new features, also one of the main avenues for build customization)
  • Overlord boss that preserves any damage it takes across multiple encounters and drops mega loot when finally brought down
  • additional features like Mission Flow and Fatestorms that interact with random missions in a player-directed way
  • item sets via the Codex, getting higher rarities improves the set bonus
  • unlocking and maxing Pilot Aptitudes (sort of like mini-classes, not too far from jobs from some Final Fantasy games)
  • of course, the item hunt to find and upgrade awesome loot to support all the other activities
  • completing ever higher mission challenge levels (a little analogous to greater rifts in D3), one of the main ways to strive for progress that is supported by all the other systems, such as Aptitudes being unlocked from completing missions at higher CLs

Since I’m a solo dev I will be focusing on different things than the typical AAA ARPG would; I’ll be increasing system depth and making systems interact with each other, and especially focusing on using the Rewrite mechanic to let players control and customize a lot of things about how they play the game.

A core goal of mine is to see what players are enjoying most, as well as what they with the game had more of.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks a lot for all that description. Really looking forward for the future of your game. I'll most probably buy it on release. I was always looking for a good top down space game to play since SPAZ and drox operative.

Just to clarify expectations: The game is in a finished state, but you intend to keep adding onto the game for a while? Is there any kind of roadmap for what we should be looking forward to? Plans for PoE-like leagues or anything as such, to have an incentive to play a "reset" of the game?

Hopefully not, it works in games like PoE,D2 and such because it is multplayer with an economy. As a singleplayer enjoyer I find those the weakpoints because it leads to higher rarity of good items.

This is correct.

Nothing quite so concrete at the moment. I'm focusing on addressing performance and stability issues being encountered by some players. Then I'll figure out what players would love to see in the game and align that with things I've considered adding / workshop it with the community for new additions to the game. At a high level, aside from unique new features I'm developing, I expect to flesh out the existing systems with additional mechanics and content.

The game is already built around this via the opt-in roguelite structure, and it's one of the things that players commonly tell me they love about the game - being able to get some of the experience of seasons without waiting 3 months and without worrying about the trading economy or server issues.

Thanks for the reply <3
Dumb question, is the set bonus fixed when you claim it or will it upgrade if you find all the items for a better tier?

Answer this myself : yes, already collected sets upgrade themselves, there's no benefit to waiting to collect them.

might be a weird thing to bring up... but i beat the overlord on challenge 15, first time. i got a bunch of purple credits and 1 very mediocre epic item -_-. i dont even think any fatepulses dropped. kinda disappointing.
