I need some help ...
The settings on my game do not match the setting in the tutorial but I can’t change them. I was able to get into the game but when I tried to use the “Craft”, “Recycle”, etc. keys in the game nothing happened. The only thing I could do was clear basic debris. Now I can’t get into the game at all. “Play” loops to the empty slot page, then to the mode page and then back to the menu page . “Continue” is not usable. “Settings” lets me go to the page but can’t change anything.

I’ve deleted the game via the Steam app; I’ve rebooted Steam and rebooted my computer. I’ve run out of ideas. I've also tried to contact the developer but the two emails I found are not valid. Can anybody help?

Right click on the game in steam and select Manage > Browse local files. Delete everything in that folder and then uninstall/reinstall.

IT WORKED! Thank you so much.
Next time, when in doubt, use the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" tool from the Steam Library. Sometimes during downloads (hotfixes, patches, etc.) a couple of files get lost or corrupted. This tool compares the files you got to the list of official files, and fixes anything that looks missing or broken. It takes about 2 minutes to run the thing, and then it might download only the files that need to be replaced, it is faster and easier and more reliable than trying to do a full reinstall. And easier than trying to find all the game-related files on your computer by yourself.

Spoke too soon. It still won't let me change the settings and some of the in-game commands still are unresponsive. Also I did verify the integrity and it said all files were verified. Ran it again tonight, same message, but something's still not working.

This might help...

I'd say start with the chapter for "Graphical resolution glitch." It's possible you have the wrong default resolution (screen size) so a lot of your actual menus and commands are off the edge of the screen. That happened to me a few times when they patched updates for the game, I had to manually go into the settings and change it again.

Verifying won't fix a misconfigured config file, faster to simply reinstall, especially with a game this small.
Do you have a gamepad or other controller connected? Try disconnecting if you do.

I've tried the verify thing several times and all 899 files have been verified. I don't have anything else connected on my computer. The game works on my laptop; it's my desktop I can't use. Both were set up the same way so it's clearly something on the desktop that's the problem. I rechecked resolution settings and they're good. I appreciate the suggestions but I'm ready to pack it in. At this point the real game is trying to solve the mystery of why NPLH doesn't work. Thanks
