It is a cooked food done in the kitchen. If I remember the recipe was not listed.

You can use any vegetables you want. You must use at least 10. When you get the advanced kitchens you can make larger amounts of pet food as well. The amount you receive is dependent on how many vegetables you use.

Chickens will always ask for one but later when you have pigs they will ask for 2, and when you get ducks ~~They will ask for 5 ! Somehow I feel (don't know I'm not there yet ), but cows and sheep will want more than that ?!

Some people think using potatoes is the cheapest way to do it.

If you have the bird house pattern from the fellow at the very 1st shop you can make it at your workstation under the basic tab then yellow arrow all the way to the right and it will stop on the bird house. Feed the birds 3 potatoes and they will give you potato seeds back. 6 or 9 seeds each time. (sorry don't remember which).

If you need other seeds just put 3 of any fruit or veggie in the bird house to get the seeds of it in the next morning!

Hope this helps! :steamhappy:

It won't let me make pet food... it keeps defaulting to mashed potatoes how do i make that stop?

you have to use ingredients, that DON'T make up a recipe... like using only 1 potato. Or mixing potato with egg, apple, strawberry, or whatever - as long as it doesn't make a recipe.

To any one still a bit unsure:

-Go to your cooker with an assortment of excess veggies in your inventory
-Put a random selection into the cooker/oven so that it registers as a 'cooking experiment' (for instance don't use two stacks of potatoes in a basic cooker because you'll probably just get a lot of mash)
-The higher number or higher 'value' of items you put in will increase the output of animal feed.
-If you only want to put one of an item into the cooker at a time hold shift while clicking on the item in the cooker inventory and it will separate out from the stack.

They really should give you this recipe from the start, since if you don't know (and the tutorial doesn't tell you) it kind of blocks you from getting the full benefit of your chickens right away. Do they even still eat potatoes?

only for taming, once they are tamed, only pet food.
