I've hit a point where I can't progress anymore or don't know where to progress

So I'm making decent money. I can handle medium and hard vessels, but I cannot fight any ships with bounties, and I struggle with undead ships, basically anything that has a shield.

I'm also stuck with my own vessel that I bought very early, it's the one you buy from main harbor - seablip with the following setup :

1x2 space : small cargo room
2x3 space : 2 demi cannons
1x4 space : 1 magma cannon

I tried frostcry cannon for my 2x3 space but it was too slow and my ship would sink too fast, so I went for faster cannons and disabling enemy cannons. However, the shield is screwing this strategy up. Anyone has a good setup ?

It's been more than an hour I'm wandering around trying to find a way to upgrade my vessel, but beside the hull hp, which is also maxed, I didn't find any new better vessel. I don't know if there's any better vessel with more crew space ?

You can get a much better vessel by fighting hard blue coats.
For fighting shield it is important to fire all your guns at the same time and to target the wheelhouse. Once it is destroyed the shield stops working.

Ohh okay thanks, I didn't know you had to fire at the same time, and also I didn't know the wheelhouse was controling the shield. I always aimed at the cannons and let my crew fire automaticly.

I don't remember having the ability to restore the hard blue coats vessel. Is it because I destroyed their ships ? Did you only get rid of the crew with crew damaging weapon ?

You can capture any ship via two methods:
You either kill all crew via boarding or anti crew weapons and get a 100% chance to take the ship
Or you destroy the ship via normal "ship damage". Then you have a chance to spend wood and iron bars to repair the damaged ship, which has another chance to suceed and then you get the ship.

So either kill the crew or kill normaly often enough to be lucky

Ah right ! I just tried it and I got the ship ! You were right ! 5 crew space and an automated smoke cannon + 1 more 2x upgrade space !

I use eagles against ships with shields, it's very good. Because it always attacks the ships' rudders, which are apparently the vital points for shields works.

That's how I managed to defeat these bosses.

Oh I see, I'm more of a "canon crew" enjoyer. The blue coat vessel carried me for some boss ships acquisition. I ended up with one of the boss ship which is very very good.

I just have the Kraken boss left (my crew is super bad in melee fighting so I'm getting rekt on the long run). Can't wait for more content. This game is pure gem, I've been waiting for this exact content for a long time

if you can find a merchant selling the ice mortar is the perfect anti shield weapon

The kraken was difficult, I narrowly defeated it. And some things don't work against him.

Like eagles, slime and invasions with crew. The best is massive or per second damage and having some instant repair skills crew for your ship.

I finally got rid of the Kraken :) my main issues were the ship sinking because of hull breach so I put my ship wheel controler to water pump activity (we can't avoid damage from kraken anyway), and the other issue was I didn't pay attention that my crew would stop firing after the Kraken would go in the water then emerge again. I lost 4 to 5 seconds (which means 4 shots for me !) juste because of that.

Basically I did everything in the game, I'm not gonna bother with the side missions as they feel irrelevant to me. I hope the map extends a lot more, I have strong expectations on this game.

While no longer necessary, it should be noted, that everything that flies (eagle, parrots) or swims (barrels, pufferfish) ignore shield.
