So..how do I fire the ship's cannon?
I did try searching the forums. After several save/restores, I can't seem to figure it out. I pause the game. asign the captain to the cannon. He loads the cannon, wheels it into place and...nothing
I press space.
I left click on a target
I right click on a target
Help?

You need a npc (or you) at the cannon post. Then select a target for the cannon. It is automatic.

I strongly recommend when you want to select a crew member to assign, select them by pressing the number by there portait (you will be #1, Wilson will probably be #2, etc), then click on the room where you want them to go. This will be a full in-game command, they'll do it, then be un-selected again. Once they get to the room you want (say with a cannon in it), select them again with their number key, and click on the place on the enemy ship that you want them to target. This should be another complete command, and they'll start shooting at that area, until you tell them to do something else. I strongly recommend that you DONT select characters by clicking on them with your mouse, as sometimes the game thinks your clicking on the character and sometimes the game thinks your clicking on the room itself. Generally don't move your crew around in combat more than you have to. Just leave your cannon gunners at the cannons, leave your helmsman at the helm, and only move one at a time if they need to go pump water or heal, then move them back, otherwise you'll have people running around, switching places and not doing anything productive.
