Why is the fan of my 4090 so loud in the game?

Have you tired limiting your FPS?

buys a 4090... has minimal tech experience... nvidia's marketing team nails it every time... then in 2 more years they come out with a rtx 5070 that is the equal to your 4090 for 550$... oof

I always set 60 fps as a limit, it makes no sense to have any higher fps than that, unless you are a FPS fanatic.. which I am not :)

There is something wrong with this game. The GPU load doesn't go above 60% but the fan intermittently goes to 100% for no reason. I've even tried limiting the fan with MSI Afterburner but it seems to ignore that.

Sounds like you're overheating?

MSI........Hate the brand. Nearly every MSI component I've bought has had issues.

That said, if it isn't a hardware fault, then try:
- Enabling resizable BAR in bios
- Limit the FPS for all programs on the Nvidia Control Panel to the same hz of your monitor (I have a 60hz 4k monitor so I set max FPS to 60)
- Set the ingame resolution to 4k not 8k
- Enable DLSS for high performance.

Probably there are other things you could try, but those are good starting points. Good luck!

EDIT: Out of curiosity, have you got adequate airflow for your toaster? Mine sits in a Lian Li O11D XL case with 10x120mm fans; 6 intake and 4 exhaust, with the fan speeds running on speed curves linked to the temp of my 4080. As an indicator, I run my game on 4k res, DLSS on Quality, max settings, and I'm seeing 57*C temps on the GPU. Without adequate airflow, I wouldn't be surprised that it's overheating.

Does the noise bug you that much with headphones on? And if you don't headphones, I recommend you get some for far better immersion.

EDIT 2: And before anyone gives me any flak for buying such a common case and overpriced GPU; every man can have a midlife crisis! I just got mine at 30 and had the cash for a flashy PC, just not a flashy car :P
