Not sure I want to carry on playing this until that can be fixed tbh. Which is a shame, because otherwise it's a great game.
Yeah, that´s a real shame, the game is great and you get attached with some soldiers real easy. This game brings something new and fresh to the table of strategy games.
It's a fullstop from me. Gutted. I'll look back from time to time to see if a bug fix comes out, but this is *such* a major gameplay bug.
You can see that this bug is going to happen when you can´t assign the "future-to-be-missed" soldiers to a squad...
Same here. Love(d) the game, hate the bug. Will wait till this gets patched and start a new (lost 3 of my best units ;_;)
Could you please report the problem via Redmine and provide us with your save files and logs? https://redmine.thqnordic.com/news/26
So far, we think the issue is connected to the auto-assigning of soldiers. So, a possible workaround is to turn it off and load an earlier save.
So I reloaded a save from immediately after my previous combat mission at Tayshet. I made sure auto-assign still wasn't on. I also, for good measure, removed all soldiers from any role on any train car. (except the engine, which was necessary to keep moving, but *not* auto-assigned). I then tried to add all soldiers to squads. However, even before getting to the final destination, I had some soldier who could not be added to a squad despite having no role preventing them. It was those soldiers who were then "left behind" when reaching the destination.
I did report this when it first happened and sent you the save file. I hope you can fix this. I did really enjoy the game and would love to finish it, but can't go any further at the moment.
How do you, a week+ later, still have no idea how this is happening? This is actually game breaking and you can't figure it out in a week of investigating?
