Upgrade the living spaces asap
As others have said, you will probably need 4 cars to get everyone you can possibly find in a playthrough to Vladivostok, assuming you don't have anyone die or desert along the way.
If you go north your total is 36 troops
If you go south you get a total of 32 troops.
either way you will need 4 train cars to get mostly everyone.
(in my campaign i let one guy leave my train to protect two young girls. He knew the risk of that action, and now hes either dead or dead)
This is wrong tho, I have 48 soldiers in north route
I think some of the pick-ups are randomized.
I went the "hard" route and Im near the end of chapter 5 (at town of Chulem, 60 hours left with 2 towns before the last mission. My 2nd infantry car is full, the first one is missing one person (they died), and the 3rd car has 4 open bunks.
I was a bit caught by surprise how this turned out to be, how he chose to stay with the two young girls. I was speechless
