you can shoot them, gun the pests down and harvest the meat.

Usually I bayonet charge them with a rifleman while I am taking down the patrol with them. I assume you can critical shot them and run off too.

I think this a joke ? But as far as I a aware while should be able to you can not harvest any meat.

Dogs accompanied by soldiers can be stealth killed (not sure if your need to be fast enough, I have shoes upgrade and my scouts also use the perk that increases movement speed), but apparently you can't do this to wild "wolves". I think they have longer detection range as well

Not sure if you can stealth kill a guard dog.

I just tried with my increased speed perk, silence perk and fancy shoes... nope. Got bitten.

Scum saved. Did a bayonet charge from behind. Dead doggo.

If they weren't a resource to manage I would probably use grenades more on the patrols that include dogs. If there is a better way to deal with them I am open to suggestions.

Also, the fact your kills very rarely drop anything is mildly disappointing. I guess it is a game design choice to force players to manager resources from the main map, markets and collecting loot from the mission maps, although it would be nice if wiping out a wolf pack gave something, or if you could grab a handful of bullets from the enemies you take down.

If you hover your mouse pointer over dogs and wolves you'll notice that bigger dark red circle around them. That is why it's hard to stealth kill them it's like a close detection circle (much bigger than humans as you'd expect a real dog would hear or notice more than humans). I find the best way of dealing them is set up an ambush, then when detected by their line of sight, switch from stealth and let the troops fire. Later in the game when your scouts have dead / kill zone option you can take the dogs out at greater range. Bayonets do work but can be a bit hit and miss.

They don't seem to get hit that often compared to soldiers, so I like to either use Critical Shot, Bayonet Charge or a sneak kill with a level 5 scout to get rid of them. That last one doesn't work on wolves because of their larger detection radius.

It can be done. You need a quick and stealthy char. Riflemen seem to be the only guys who can do it. The major issue is that dogs are also an early warning for everybody else in the patrol. I tend to savescum a million times to learn what does and what doesn't work and so far, I haven't been able to reliably stealth kill dog patrols. However, a well placed MG ambush works wonders. So I stealth kill everything that I can take out and then it is time for just a little bit of shooting.

Mines work too.
