From the screenshots it seems there's at least a dozen different character portraits in the game but they're probably pre-made characters we're stuck with.
Like in the This War of Mine game.
But even that game had a custom character maker so I'm hoping it's like choose a portrait, character model and character skills/traits.
I don't know what criteria are required to qualify as a Triple A title; but from the gameplay I've watched online, this game doesn't make the cut. As for being "lucky" it's not 60 bucks, well you and I aren't likely to agree on what constitutes value.
Game mechanics that add player agency/customization options are of those thing I value in a game. If you don't, that's OK. I won't tell you what / how to play. You do you.
It's a small studio title, so I am not sure why people think it's AAA just because it doesn't look like an indie game.
However, I agree that the option to name your soldiers / change portraits will be nice. Though customization would create a degree of unit favoritism that I think the devs would like to avoid.
I personally would like it however, and think it would not take away from the game.
Blinkninja1 made that assertion, not I. Like you, I'm not sure what gave him that idea.
Renaming would have been a nice feature to have.
Surprising that the devs did not implement it as it is a common option in these sort of games.
If I'm not interested in the characters, I won't play it.
for a game that is based on Real Events and People and their Letters etc im not seeing this being a thing or comming in the Future
Every Person in the game is based on real ones and they have all a own little story behavior reason
would terminate all of that if you can name then Rickroller 3000
It's not a "problem" for all.... renaming is just a feature that would have been nice to have.
It is not necessarily a sign of weakness to comment that is something they would have liked.
Some people just like to dramatise everything.
