Next, click on Adminstrative Langauge settings, a new window should pop up.
Click on Change System Locale, another window should pop up
Check the checkmark for Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8. then save and okay , you should get a prompt to restart Windows. after doing this you should be able to start Tales of Immortal normaly.
this should let the game launch without deleting the Dll so you can use mods.
WHAT IS version.dll DO??WHY IT STOP THE GAME OPEN???
The game added the ability to mod the game. To facilitate loading mods into the game they use a program called Melonloader. They choose to use an outdated version that doesn't like certain characters in the filepaths. Being that the game is Chinese it has characters that this program does not like in its filepaths. Deleting Version.dll essentially is turning off Melonloader as it is the .dll file for it. You wont be able to run mods in your game but it will run.
thats also why the workaround i posted fixes the problem apparantly because the uft-8 beta seems compatable with the melonloder code.
Delete a file in the game folder called Version.dll. You may not be able to play mods but you will be able to play the game.
You can also:
1. Close steam
2. Go to <steam>/steamlib/steamapps
3. Open file appmanifest_1468810.acf with text editor
4. Rename "installdir" "????" to "installdir" "TOI"
5. Go to <steam>/steamlib/steamapps/common and rename game forlder ???? to TOI
This should allow you to play mods.
When it says close steam it means completely exit Steam. If you do not it'll automatically undo your changes.
Add me on Discord, I'll fix it for you. Cadis Etrama Hozzy Di Lin#4334
2. Go to game folder \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\鬼谷八荒 (it is a folder with hieroglyphs)
3. Rename it to Tale of Immortal
4. Go to folder \SteamLibrary\steamapps and open file appmanifest_1468810.acf (with notepad++ or else)
5. Change
"installdir" "鬼谷八荒"
to
"installdir" "Tale of immortal"
It's work for me
I could play even with without deleting version.dll, but melonloader wouldn't load. But the second solution worked for me. Thank you very much for sharing it!
