NPCs won't accept me as their Master
While it isn't 100% of them it is the overwhelming majority. The only disciples I can get are the forced ones in case I am an Elder and make them True Disciples of mine and one random guy accepted, when I was testing everyone if it is even remotely possible.

So what to do? I can't figure out what it could be. I am down to not dual cultivate or invite at all in case that might make a difference, but so far it doesn't seem like it.

The responses are always the same. We aren't close enough, get more hearts, horoscope says no, getting even more hearts, we are not destined to be master and disciple. I already tried picking people with at least 2 of 3 correlating traits.

The requirements are quite strict. You are compared with personality, interests, spiritual roots and abilities. NPCs have nothing to learn from someone with different skills than them, or from a different realm. Your age is also very relevant, remember that cultivators are extremely proud, and Chinese culture differentiates people by age. It would be absurdly offensive for a child to try to be the master of someone older.

If age plays a crucial role, then they might as well not have coded the mechanic. During normal gameplay you will always be excessively younger. The NPCs are generated at a high age according to later cultivation level. You can't make that up unless you decide to pass 200 years skipping time.

In all the mangas etc the master is never of the same realm either. Always higher. What do you have to learn from an initiative like you. That is where you would go sworn sibling.

I haven't taken interest into account, but I can add that as well and report back, but I doubt that it will matter. As I have tried with 30+ different characters already I would have been bound to have more random chances line up

Your renown is also evaluated. The age factor is not important, as very young cultivators are randomly generated in the initial areas (18 years). Cultivation stories value the relationship between disciple and master more than marriages, so it's no surprise that it's very difficult to establish such a relationship. Having a disciple is much more difficult than having a master, as your disciple will constantly come to you asking for favors, so I consider it something to have fun after completing the game. To teach a skill to an NPC, the conditions must be as follows: 1- The skill is from the same realm or 1 realm apart. 2- The skill is of interest to the NPC. 3- The NPC has the necessary spiritual roots to learn.

There is more. Even if you become sect leader, even initiates from your own sect will continue to disrespect you (on auction for example).

Well I tried adding your suggestion. I looked for NPCs that aligned much more interest wise and external/internal trait wise. The result remains the same. I even grinded reputation to see if that might be the problem.

No changes.

The best match had 1 interest, External factor, 1 internal factor, same weapon stat and was only a realm lower. Same behavior. So at this rate I have no clue what it could be.

Having everything match up is so unlikely that I doubt that would be a requisite

“Good” or “bad” alignment also matters. Rivalries between sects, enmities between relatives, etc.
I have a few disciples, I could have had more, but I prefer to have a harem of artificially created HCs to serve as my ultra-loyal personal army.

In short, discipleship, although it can sometimes seem complicated to obtain (it's like seeking friendship with an arrogant HC), is not the ultimate outcome of the game.

In xianxia type novels, how many elders raged while the MC refused to become a disciple.
If you're trying to make a disciple of an HC character...good luck with that.

Friendship with HC is not that hard. Just wait for them to need something for a breakthrough

How are your disciples agewise and did they accept the request or was it via elder/true disciple stuff?

No, I looked for them in the early maps-levels of the world, when they are still promising.
So, I give them Boss-type power manuals of their map level, and that's it. Then I implant a seed into them to make artificial HCs.

In my opinion, it's still better than seeking friendship from natural HC characters, who are arrogant as hell.
