-Joining the Dragon Sect only possible in the First Region and you must be either a Qi Refining or a Foundation Cultivator for the weaken Sect to accept you. Say, you want to join the Dragon Sect but you left the region and become a III Cultivator, any Sect in the weaker regions will decline you membership.
Con:
-Joining the Dragon Sect means you must choose Following Bug I, II, III, IV, and Dragon Awaken for your Rewrite Destinies from Foundation to Nascent Soul. Are you willing to sacrifices other perks/Destinies?
Pro:
-You get to have a unique Dragoness or Dragonman (you can choose the gender of the bug during the Dragon Awaken). The helper will be loyal to you and helped you throughout all your battles (Sect Battle, Dungeon, Boss Batle, etc).
-Your dragon helper have three Unique Ultimate Modes and 5 Destinies Perks (only 4 are currently available).
That being said you can run your own sect even if it's not elder dragon one. You just need to join sect that is not a branch and then you can become sect leader eventually. Problem with that is they are unlikely to have element that you are using (I think they have 1 for first region, 2 for second and so on) which means you will need to spend time on sect wars in orderer to get elements that you are interested in. You should be able to easily win sect wars if you invite random nascent tier cultivators to your sect (I got one nascent and one golden core in first region, no clue why they wanted to join my sect except for being friendly with me) as long as defending sect doesn't have golden core representing them in first region (you should be around qi condensation when you become sect leader).
As for your question itself... It might be worth for role play or if you want to play with raising sect. And as long as you don't join branch but normal sect and become sect elader, you will get free stuff out of your sect, so becoming sect leader is worth it.
Grind is not unbearable, but I wish there were more unique things to it in terms of sect special quests and such.
That being said, playing as helicopter is fun.
The short range slash by default has like 0.5 if you cut it in half it's 0.25 you don't need any more reduction to slash faster than you think. All you do is get your Leech effects and ATK Mind Technique and you can cruise trough the whole game.
The Splitting attack is slower , but better against bosses there's multiple hits and fast stacks.
The helicopter is best because of it's reliability and range.
Neither of these has to be "min-maxed" , you can use them casually.
