Is Agar's questline bugged?

He's dying but I can't kill any of the mobs in the spiritual fruit/holy spring location (dealing 1 damage and they do 10% of my health each hit)

Same thing here can't get water or the fruit since the mobs there are really powerful

I too took too long to do this mission and he died but the quest to get the water cauldron, when I went there the first time I thought the quest wanted 3 different types of jade interest items, but in fact you can use any 3 even the same ones. by the time I got back there with the jade items, I had a dialogue thing telling me agar died, but when I handed in the cauldron there was agar drinking. I'm not sure if the game will get harder later on when the rest of the areas are added since there was some text about it potentially requiring the help of a giant to get into the final area, I got to soul formation and haven't wanted to keep going yet since it ends currently at enlightenment. I don't actually know if its important to keep him alive or not.

I would advise not speaking to agar until you're ready to follow him across the map, make sure you have 3 jade interest items, even if you managed to get through the everfrost, the first quest he gives to get rid of the drought demon, she has something like 250k hp which is insanely high for the point at which you get to it. you have to do the quest to get her the plant from the auction and convince her to leave. after which agar will move on a bit futher and drink from a river, that water cauldron quest kinda bugged out for me, since agar had died but he was still alive when I turned in the cauldron. at least he was alive in the dialogue box.

I just don't even talk to him when he initially showed up. Glad I dodged that bullet.

I managed to get past that point and even helped someone's dragon ascension. It was past that point where he ended up dying. It didn't have any effect on the rest of the playthrough - probably just missed items from more side quests.

Also agree with the suggestion to not talk with him immediately. First time you meet him you're probably Late Nascent but it might be best to hold off until Late Soul Formation. Again, you'd probably be able to complete the Drought Demon part in Late Soul Formation (I only bought the item from the auction, fighting her might not be viable at VII realm) but maybe it's better to hold off until Late Enlightenment.

to kill the mobs, you just take attack up elixir (can buy at market) and drink wine (mighty strength). It will do just fine

Yup, pretty much killed himself in my game because the game decides that you should pick up a Soul Formation (VII) quest at Nascent Soul (VI), so he's pretty much meant to die in my book unless you have meta knowledge.

In any case, can anyone tell me how to get the 2 items he needs? The translation is actually hilariously bad and I can't bother to savescum through the desert anymore to justify trying to deal with this.
