The dungeon in which you get those spirit will have the specific item to feed them.

The Fox girl dungeon will have irisdescent gem or something like that. You can feed that to her to increase affinity.

At the end of every Fallen Valley is a Dark Crystal that you feed Soul Lures to break into Dark Crystal Shards and possibly a Chest.

The more Lures you get in an instance, the higher chance you will break the Crystal into more Shards and I think you get a chest every time you feed 5+ Soul Lures (not sure how many, but it doesn't take much).

Also, the more Soul Lures, the more items the chest will have.

The chest contains milk to repair and forge artifacts, Souleater Stones to allow you to access any Souleater Tower, and realm/area unique orange items called "Ancient Artifacts".

The "Ancient Artifacts" dropped by the chest are GIFTS to increase affinity with the Spirits unique to the Fallen Valley you are in.

Every Dark Crystal Shard rolls an Artifact Spirits unique to the Fallen Valley of the area/realm you are running.

If it rolls the same Artifact Spirit that you already own, you will level up the "Soul Realm" or level of the Spirit it rolled for.

If it rolls a Artifact Spirits you already have capped, it gives you Nether Breath.

Nether Breath can be used to summon a boss that will ALSO drop Dark Crystal Shards (and possibly an ingredient for an Artifact core).

Unlocking Artifact Spirits talents may require Soul Dew. Soul Dew is found by clearing Souleater Towers. You also get Quartz at the end of every tower that can be used to Enhance lower realm Artifacts to the level of the realm/area the Quartz is native to.

Clearing a Souleater Tower for the first time also awards a unique Mythic Mount and Soul Orb.

Soul Dew is unique to the area/realm you are in and will only work for the Artifact Spirits native to the area the Souleater Tower is in.

Some Artifact Spirit talents have other requirements stated on the talent (Soul Stones, a scroll, or that you do a certain quest or event).

Every Artifact Spirit has a Spirit Power number, and every Artifact has a Spirit Power Capacity. Every time a Artifact Spirit has its Soul Realm increased, or you unlock a new talent for it, it will increase in Spirit Power.

Be careful not to level up your Spirit or unlock too many talents, or you may have a Spirit that is more powerful than any Artifact you can make to hold it.

You can form a Pact with "gold" rarity Artifact Spirits to unlock their center ability tree after reaching a certain affinity. Artifact Spirits that you have a Pact with can also be given Soul Orbs to increase their Artifacts stats. Breaking the Pact will debuff (-%health/energy) you for 3 months, preventing you from forming another pact and locking you out of the center tree for that Spirit.

Artifact Spirits have specializations and skills that have Soul Realm (level) requirements to use. Active (click to use) specializations can be used without an Artifact tied to the Spirit. Passive specializations require you tie the Spirit to an Artifact you have geared.

Active specializations can be very powerful, because you can have a ton of Spirits, and use their specializations for buffs, to heal, or to gain emergency access to a workshop/storage.
