Determining unit sizes
What's the best recipe for an equally balanced massacre?

When using units if firearms or ranged weapons I find unit spacing tends to make the fights a bit more drawn out and bloody, For melee units you want line space draw the line out and smack armies right up next to each other in attack.

@droggen - That's a good tip. I guess my main reason for asking the question was how people decide on how many units to place. For example, say you have 1000 standard zombies and want to pit them against footmen. Aside from looking at each unit's stats, is there a way to figure out how many footmen to place to make it a close battle? I've created battles and in the end, one side has won by thousands. I'd like to bring that number down as low as possible. Hopefully this all makes sense. lol

Such reporting is not built into the game yet and I hope the devs will do so in a future update

I recommend starting with 100 vs 100 or 1000 vs 1000 and modifying based on the results. Then, scale up after testing. Although, terrain can drastically change the outcome of a battle, so scaling up may introduce dramatically different results if new terrain elements are introduced because of the scale of the battle
