Game Not Launching/Crash on Game Launch: Troubleshooting Steps

We've identified an issue with the latest game update where some users are not receiving a necessary Visual C++ update. You may need to update this manually, following these steps (copied from the Support page above):

If you are using a 64-bit Operating System, download the x64 file.
If you are using a 32-bit Operating System, download the x86 file,
Please Note that Age of Empires IV requires Win10 64-bit as part of its minimum technical requirements, if you are running a 32-bit version, you may not be meeting min-spec.

Windows 11 pro pretty high end pc. Game wont start. The suggested exe file wont install. I give up.

Same here and the link is to a very old version of c++ redist, which is why it won't install. So this is a cut and paste of an old fix. LOL

Had opened a ticket and the solution is to disconnect ALL USB devices except KB and mouse. This fixes it but it's not a acceptable solution. Btw I went to Microsoft download and repaired the latest C++ redist which I had, which did not fix it. Hope someone finds the problem soon, I suspect it has to do with USB Xbox/PS controller support.

I removed a couple of USB devices and closed out Discord and either one or both of those seems to have resolved the crash for me. Really annoying.

Game starts fine, but crashes 10 minutes or so in. Ever since the update. Becoming unbearable.

I crashed while playing a multi coop game today and am not getting the normal intro when loading the game. Also performance sometimes does a little pause like it will crash but rarely. Have played two other successful games since.

OK. Second crash just now. I have not installed your fix though as that was for people not able to start the game. Giving up for now and playing something else.

Why doesn't Microsoft do something that actually works? They release an update that crashes all games on different platforms. They think they're going to rock, but they're ruining the lives of those who use the game. This is ridiculous! Where can I block these stupid automatic updates that make it impossible for us to play the game online?

They can fire the team that came up with this implementation plan without testing it and brought terrible visibility to the game.

"the game is exciting as it cannot load or create the game configuration data" I don't understand what happened, what a stupid update they made, I don't plan to fix it, you guys do it.
