Ancient world is very limiting in what you can do. And you already got that with age of mythology for that time period. Where they have mythical monsters to make it more interesting with powers.

Maybe a bigger focus on civil wars? War of the Roses, Charlemagne, Vikings and Saxons, The Ottomans vs Byzantium? With the opportunity to change history?
