how do i use the Zhu xi's libary
it keeps saying "maximum two required" but i haven't done anything with that landmark yet

It can only research 2 out of the 5 available researches. Are you getting this message before having researched anything? Is it preventing you from researching anything as well?

Have you reached the Yuan Dynasty first?
With China and Zhu Xi you need to complete each Dynasty before unlocking their research and unit bonuses. This requires 2 Landmark buildings per Dynasty.

My guess it that you need to make sure you're building all Landmarks for each Dynasty. This is what makes these 2 Civs unique they have to build double the Landmarks than the rest of the Civs in AOE IV but they get strong bonuses and upgrade in return.

Zhu Xi's Library is an imperial age landmark. It gives access to 5 researches, with the player only being able to select 2.

Not being able to select any is a bug, something that makes the landmark completely useless... as the researches are all you get access to. It's not supposed to happen, and I cannot recreate the bug in my game

Only thing to do is to document the bug and report it on the official website, here: https://forums.ageofempires.com/c/age-of-empires-iv/age-of-empires-iv-bugs/185
