This is similar to "we're getting 2 DLCs this year". Their 5 civs together is like 1 of the new AoE4 variants. The Knight Templars have at least 9 unique units and a unique building. The English variant has a couple unique units and a unique building. The difference is in the optics - that their civs aren't called "variants", but the content size is roughly similar. And we are also getting a 2nd DLC in half a year. We won't have to wait another 1.5 years.
The problem is they've painted themselves into a corner with AoE4 by giving each civ unique unit voice lines for every age, unique music with every age and game state, unique skins for every building and unit, even base units. This makes it harder for AoE4 to release civs, whereas for AoE2 it's just slapping on a unique unit and some bonuses, maybe add a unique Castle skin, and be done with it.
So in conclusion, even though our DLC is crap, theirs is still crappier. And we need to look at things more in depth, because considering our game is twice as small, we are still punching well above our weight.
chinese now have like 5 unique units alone, and regional skins added so they no longer looks copy and paste, and 25 new castle looks for all civs so all castles looks different
Wait, all units are getting regional skins? No way.
That's true. But last year Relic got ditched by SEGA and had to downsize massively.
We're getting some DLC which I'mpleased about, I imagine most people will ultimately like most elements of it.
Meanwhile, Age of Empires IV has suffered from slow updates due to the studio’s chaotic project management, the developers’ stubborn decisions, and poor operational strategies. The game now faces more issues, with messy code and broken AI logic.
I recommend reading the patch notes before parroting the same old untrue claim.
oh i didn't know they were brand new civs, but still in terms of gameplay AoE 4 civs are more distinct
I'm not referring to the new civs, I'm referring to the balance chankes and reworks for Chinese and Koreans.
But yes, AoE 4's civs are more detailed.
That's just cope for slacking off tho.
