No Tactical Pause for SP = Uninstall
It's a shame. I wanted to play this game but I really do prefer a tactical pause in my RTS games. I just don't understand why they don't provide this option for SP-only and allow users to turn it off if they prefer more of a challenge.

Do not give up!

You can pause the game with ESC

You can set to lover difficulties, if normal is too difficult for You or just want chill game.
What kind of Pause do you mean? Just pausing the Game?
Or a Pause the Game but check how the Battlefield looks like?
You can pause via ESC as the Person above me wrote.
If you need to leave for Business, or your Children you can just *save* your Game and can continue later down the Line!!!
its just called incompetence
relic are just a clown of of a dev studio, barely making content for the game, with a lots of unpatched bugs since years
and bootlicker like the two people before me will gaslight you to say its a YOU problem, yeah downgrading feature in a franchise is definitely a big issue nowadays, and this game dont have the popularity and the reputation of AOE2 because of that, shame on you, stupid gatekeepers
In case you two truly don't know what I mean by "Tactical Pause", I'm referring to the feature (that 99% of RTS games have) whereby you can pause the game and look around the map, consider your next move, issue orders etc. I'd love to know if the Dev has comments on this at all. For SP, it should be very easy to implement and I'd love to know their reasoning for not doing so.

That is active pause - to pause a game and issue an order to units.

No, 99% of RTS games do not have it - it is a design feature - some RTS have it, ussually with more intensive micromanagment (Company of Heroes) and some not - like "top dogs RTS" Command & Conquer, Warcraft, Starcraft, which are supposed to be played in real time.

AOE 2 have it, and it doesnt hurt anyone since its a solo feature
the reality is relic didnt managed to do it at launch, and now they dont know how to implement it without breaking the whole code so they dont do anything
the real question is why not hiring forgotten empire to make an AOE sequel, why microsoft hired relic to make the game, if they dont have the talent to do it properly
if there is an AOE 5 i hope it will be FE, and not another incompetent dev team

Okay buddy, you have too much time on your hands. Tactical pause is the same thing as Active pause but feel free to call it whatever makes you feel good inside. They're synonymous in the gaming world. And sorry, I was being hyperbolic when I said 99% I thought that was obvious. Allow me to rephrase and say "Most" which is true.

Then bye lol
Real reply this time. Tactical pause won't actually add anything to your experience. It will hold you back and u can still pause the game as it is. Being able to see the entire map as you pause won't actually help you get better at the game
