Friend got me game im from aoe 2 de. is ranked random? or actually skill based?

is the team ranking games not as good as AOE 2 DE? like ya i know i should probably get a rank first by playing the first 5 matches etc. but yeah my friend bought me game he just does campaigns and stuff but i was having fun showing him some of the aoe 2 tricks and what not like holding shift and clicking so scout follows way points and stuff.

Anywho playing 2vs2 ranked it was about how i expected it to go for first few matches. we lost first 2 games . won the 3rd one, and the 4th one we went agianst a bronze and gold rank player and got completely stomped in 5 mins china had 50 chichu archers and built 12 rams. and ya just completely destroyed me easy.

Anywho is there not alot of players online for ranked to match you with players more so around your own rank? or do i just need to get a rank me and friend and then we should play people more so around our own skill level?

You need to play ~150 games until the system find your exact skill level. You need at least 15 games (probably more for team games) until it has a rough estimation.
