Just want to throw in, the vast majority of all RTS gamers, whether it's AoE, C&C, Warcraft or whatever are campaign players.
The Stormgate team shared a graph on Social Media on Day 1 of Stormgate's Early Access. 48 % played campaign whereas only 15 % versus (= ranked MP).

That's such a bad example. What did you expect people checking out Stormgate to jump into during the first few days? Multiplayer 1v1?
It's actually isn't, as it's no secret that the majority of RTS players love campaigns, no matter how MP orientated the game is.
But yes, MP players are the ones who play a game the longest.
