Thoughts on latest patch
While I do get that they want to go slow on a couple of bugs/issues. I believe that the amount of things fixed for the number of weeks we have been playing is unprofessional from them. they might surprise us in the future, though current bugs are just unplayable.

As I've been playing AOE for a long time and I've seen how they have handled AOE3DE which is where I have most of my experience. I can say that there are still Bugs that were found in the early beginnings and they haven't been able to fix them yet.

I suggest that for any game-breaking bug or irregularity related to a civ or a unit [ unit wise might be harder ] That they Disable the civ or the unit until they find a fix. This is something currently seen in current popular games where an object or a skin or a character is disabled as they find a solution. It is not a good experience having to find the same bug over and over because the developer team behind AOE4 hasn't been able to fix the bug or has taken them 4 months to release a patch. For this reason, I truly believe that disabling anything that is causing trouble and adding it back later after a fix has been implemented could be a good way to go for AOE4.



Does anyone think similar?

i'm still downloading the damn thing.

quite horrible. still huge fps drops when i move round the mouse on the map.
and Enemy AI just walks through my stone walls like its nothing there... they just walks up to it,, end on the top of the wall killing my archers i have ON the wall. and then they go back down but end up inside my base.

honestly they could reveal that post launch they shrinked the dev team to 1 dev and id believe them considering how little there was in the patch.

The mongol extra speed one is really weird to me.

I think if they got rid of the speed bug, the mongol tc drop strategy would have been fine. And its probably just getting multiplied twice somewhere since its giving a 2.25x bonus instead of the intended 1.5x bonus. I ofc can't be certain without seeing their code, but I would think fixing the mongol speed bug would be even easier than what they actually did to fix tc drops. They'd have to have some really messy code for it to not be an easy fix because it should in theory be as simple as multiplying a single variable by 1.5 instead of 2.25.

It seemed really small as a patch. I'm hoping they have like some bigger fixes coming out, or maybe they prioritized the fps issue and that was a really hard fix, because some of the bugs in the game (like incorrect tooltips and the like, and the mongol tc speed bug) should be fixable in like 5 minutes, maybe a couple hours for the whole process to make sure they're thoroughly tested, but not 3 weeks.

I'm happy about that. Should solve some of the many direct problems in the game. A step in the right direction. Will be in soon and check if I can link my ms account.
