How to counter Elite Spearmen and archers army?

I was playing as Mongols against Holy Roman Empire using a mixture of Lancers, horseman and Mungadai while opponent defeated me with unstoppable spearmen and archers...How to counter this type of formation effectively?

normally I would say: with fortifications. But you play mongols and therefore you don't have it.

So I would try it with an mixed infantry and the artillery that is effective against infantry to attack the spearmen.
Use monks to heal your units in combat.
while you are blocking the infantry attack the archers with your horsemen from the sides or from behind.
A Pincer movement should be the best tactic.
two factors may be also helpful: use elite units if possible and sent enough troops.

if possible use the terrain and prepare an ambush

try with catapults, catapult are effective against blob units, such as foot and horse units.

Mangudai are a hard counter to spearmen and will win over archers too with micro.

You have to constantly micro your Mangudai to be truly effective since they can fire on the move which is kinda op. Make sure you master that micro and spearmen will be no problem at all.

Lancers are a terrible idea, spearmen deal bonus damage against all cavalry and will easely defeat knights/lancers.

Any archers, mangonels and MAA hardcounter spearmen. Crossbows work too but is not optimal.

If you go archer, mangonel, you'll die to horsemen, springald. Plus you can pick your engagements with lancers. Spearmen cannot.

Its a numbers game with spearmen vs lancers, needing 2-1 for spears to generally win engagements depending on upgrades. Mangonels are a great addition for dealing with infantry and archers. TBH you are going completely gold heavy which was prob your main issue. Mixing in archers which cost no gold would give you a higher ratio of lancers to play with while still getting the bonus archer damage vs spearmen. His army is slow so try and raid with your mobile units as well, draw him away and buy time for a switch and upgrades. Spearmen and archers are by no means unstoppable, but it sounds like he got the lead on upgrades on you and you had to play catch up while teching into too many things.

Lancers and Horsemen beat archers, but you haev to micro around the spearmen. Splitting them into groups approaching from different directions can help, but it takes more micro.

Mangonels counter the whole thing.

Archers and mangudai counter spearmen.

Men at arms counter both spearmen and archers.
