Strong anti-Christian sentiment in this game?
Now, I know it may sound ridiculous, but this is something that Ive noticed.

The new Dlc dropped and we got many new civs, which is great, however, how on earth we didn't get a Templar Order faction in a Dlc called "The sultans ascend"? The campaign focuses heavily on the crusades, so it would be obvious that the templars/crusaders must have been introduced here as a playable faction. They are even drawn in the official Dlc art, so what the hell happened? Did they conciously decide not to introduce them because God only knows why?

We got the Order of the Dragon instead, which was an Order created to protect the Holy Cross and Catholicism from its enemies (its literally stated in the first paragraph of wikipedia). However, nowhere in the faction description that is stated. Instead, its written that "It was founded to smash invading empires". Awfully misleading, why not state the actual objective of the Order?

Moreover, the crusaders in the campaign are depicted as bloodthirsty invaders and slaughterers while the arabs are peaceful Allah loving muslims... Very one sided if im frank...

I would love if you proved me wrong, but I'm feeling Christianophobia from this game.

Christianphobai and Islamophobia are both good. Those religions have centuries of persecution and the blood of countless people on their hands for made up sky fairies. In ancient times all times of mass genocides were justified by followers of Christianity and Islam. The Crusades are just one example of this. Anyone arguing one is worse than the other is simply ignorant.

I don't think killing your enemies at war is considered 'genocide'. I mean, both sides kinda have equal power... Unlike what the NAZI did to the Jews, or what those wankers did to the Natives of that America continent.

Also, I think all genocide never based on religion, but on greed.

You may be frank tbh. Crusades often made by ragtag religious nutjobs who either want to kill infidels or pillage the riches and sometime both! Even beloved Constantinople ransacked by passing crusaders, her citizens killed, slaved and looted where the Empire never fully recovered and fall to the Ottomans. So, them killing native muslims, jewish people and any other was a common practice happened many times.

Moreover campaign narrated by the view of arabians, every AoE campaigns narrated by the faction you played. It's nothing special. Still I would like to have a templar sub-faction though, they're really charismatic and could be fun to play with some unique touch of mechanics.

No, it's not. Even through civs are based on their real life counterparts, game actually has nothing to do with religion (I don't know any in-game description, that mentions any religions, except for new Japanese civ's castle age choice of buddhism or shinto). There are references, parodies of real life symbolism, like HRE's unique monastery techs. Relics are imaginary sacred objects, that any civ gains bonuses. Religious buildings don't even use cross or Moon crescent on their structures.

I don't know who you're responding to, but the new campaign definitely says Muslims a lot.

....
The point is, that narrative of new campaign is in "Islamophilia" spirit

The campaign is narrated by the view of the people you play.

Christians want to be opressed so badly.

"how on earth we didn't get a Templar Order faction" Most likely cause they can sell it as its own DLC and the majority will buy it. :happy_creep:

Recently, the sentiment around a new campaign narrative has sparked conversations, with some expressing concern over what they perceive as an "Islamophilia" spirit. As we navigate these conversations, it's crucial to remember the essence of gaming – a shared space where diverse individuals come together to escape reality and embark on adventures.

Gaming transcends borders, cultures, and beliefs. It is a universal language that unites players from every corner of the globe, allowing them to collaborate, compete, and immerse themselves in worlds beyond their own. The beauty of this shared experience lies in its ability to foster understanding, empathy, and friendship among people with diverse perspectives.

The campaign, narrated from the viewpoint of the characters you play, reflects the richness of storytelling and the diversity of the gaming community. Rather than perceiving it through the lens of division, let's embrace it as an opportunity to learn and appreciate the multitude of cultures and experiences that contribute to the tapestry of our virtual worlds.

In the spirit of unity, let's recognize that everyone brings their own unique background and beliefs to the gaming table. Instead of allowing differences to create rifts, let's celebrate the opportunity to engage with narratives that broaden our horizons and challenge our preconceptions. After all, the magic of gaming lies in its ability to transport us to realms unknown, where we can coexist and collaborate regardless of our real-world differences.

So, fellow gamers, let's shift our focus from divisive narratives to the shared joy of play. Let's celebrate the common ground we find in our love for the immersive worlds, thrilling adventures, and the camaraderie that gaming provides. Whether we're Christians, Muslims, or members of any other faith, let our shared passion for gaming be the bridge that connects us, fostering an environment where understanding and inclusivity prevail.

In the grand tapestry of gaming, let's weave a narrative of unity, respect, and camaraderie. Together, we can create a space where everyone feels welcome, appreciated, and understood. After all, the true magic of gaming lies not in the pixels on the screen but in the connections we forge with fellow players around the world.

Chill out chaps, there. Squint and see my churchyard.... T.t.n.i.t.W
Do you think the word "infidel" is incendiary? Do you think the Devs could have written the campaign language without it, yet still made it an immersive experience? Do you think there would be cries from the Muslim community if the words were put into the mouths of Crusaders directed toward Muslims?
